"Hey, Jess?" I say, walking into her room. She looks up from her laptop.
"What?"
"I'm going costume shopping with Linds and Nick. Wanna' come?" She closes her laptop and walks out of the room, bumping my shoulder on the way out.
"No."
"Why not? I know you're mad at me, but are you really going to wear that cowgirl costume from last year again?"
"No. Me and John are picking out a costume together. I'm going with him."
"What? He broke your heart! He cheated on you!"
"So?"
"So? You're just going to let him walk all over you again?"
"Sarah, I can take care of myself. Have fun trick-or-treating."
