The doorbell rings. "Carter! Hello!" I hear Mom say from downstairs. I put on a cream colored cardigan and run downstairs.
"Beautiful as always," Carter says when he sees me. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah."
"Have her back by, um, seven good?" Mom asks.
"Seven's perfect. Bye Ms. Johnson!"
"Bye, hun. Bye, sweet cheeks!" She closes the door behind us.
I see a taxi on the side of the road.
"Does Ryan have the car or something?" I ask.
"Well, yes. But, I thought we could do something special. Welcome to New York." He says opening the back door on the passenger side of the car. I get in while he swings around to the other side.
"Final destination?" The driver asks.
"Yes, sir. Thank you," says Carter.
"So, where are we going?" I ask.
"Don't you mean where art thou going?" He pulls two tickets out of his pocket. I cover my mouth with my hands.
"No! You didn't!" I yell.
"What?" He asks looking at the tickets. "You mean get us two tickets to the Romeo and Juliet play that is happening at our local theater, which was remodeled to look like the Globe theater for a limited time only? I think I did."
"Oh my god!" I scream, hugging him.
"I told you I wanted to do something special." I lay my head on his shoulder.
