Anger, Love, and Loss

Wednesday, November 11th, 7:40 PM

"So," Carter's friend Devin says, sitting down on the couch's arm next to me. "You're Cart's girl?" I take a sip of my fruit punch.

"Yeah."

"Has he told you yet?" Carter comes running towards us.

"Hey, Bean, can I talk to you for a sec?"

"Yeah, sure." Carter and Devin go outside. Lindsay walks over.

"Ignore Devin. He's can't keep a secret," she says.

"Is Carter keeping something from me?"

"No. Not anything important, It's just..."

"Hey Sair, can I talk to you for a minute?" Carter says, cutting her off.

"Um, yeah, sure."

We go upstairs into his room. I take a seat on his bed. He sits on a chair by his desk.

"What'd you want to talk about?"

"You know I just moved here a few months ago from Weston."

"Yeah. Why?" He sighs.

"I'm moving back. We moved here because of my Dad's job. We always knew it would be temporary. We leave during break." I start to cry.

"What? Is that what..."

"Devin was saying? Yeah. I'm so sorry."

"Well, we can still hang out during the weekends, right?"

"Sair, we can try, but."

"But what?"

"You know Linds and Ryan dated before, right? Do you know why they broke up?"

"'Cause Lindsay moved."

"Yeah. Let's enjoy it while it lasts okay?"

"Okay."

He leaves the room and goes downstairs. I wipe my tears and follow him. Lindsay walks up to me with a piece of cake. She hands it to me.

" You okay?"

"Yeah. When'd you find out?" I ask her.

"The first day he was in school." We take a seat on the couch. Another one of Carter's friends comes over.

"Hey, Linds. This your friend?"

"Yeah. Um, Sair, meet Jim, Jim, Sair."

"Hey, Sair, what's wrong?" I realize I'm still crying. I wipe my face with my sleeve.

"Nothing. Just, I'm fine. Thanks."

"She just found out," Lindsay tells him.

"Oh, are you Cart's girlfriend or something?"

"Yeah."

"Oh, well I'll leave you two alone then." Jimmy walks away.

"It's okay," says Lindsay.
