I grab my lunch tray and sit down next to Lindsay. "Hey."
"Hey. Do you have the English notes?" Lindsay asks.
"Yeah. Here. Don't fall asleep next time. 'Kay?"
"I couldn't get a good sleep last night. Tommy had some friends over."
"Sure, blame the first grader," I say as a familiar face walks up to us. "What do you want?"
"Can I talk to my girlfriend, please? In private?" John asks.
"Okay one, I am not, N, O, T, not your girlfriend! And two, anything you need to say to me, you can say to them," Jessie yells. John backs up.
"I'm sorry, but Abi is just a friend. She has had a crush on me for years. She kissed me, not the other way around. I promise."
"Okay, I believe you, if I hear it from her."
"Okay great, pick you up at... wait what?"
"You heard me. I want to hear that from her."
"I uh..."
"Do you want me to believe you?"
"Yeah..."
"Then go get her!" John sprints away as Jessie starts crying.
"It's okay," I say, rubbing her arm. "It's okay." John comes back.
"One problem, um, she's home sick today," He says.
"Get out!" Nikki yells. He runs away. Jessie starts sobbing.
