Chapter 5
I threw the snaggly looking rogue off me and circled around him. My wolf, sizing up her opponent.
I could sense the smirk my wolf was giving off. "This mutt is no challenge for me. Hell, he is a disgrace to the barbarian creatures that are rogues."
I smiled my agreement to her. This rogue was half my size and painfully underweight. That's rare for a wolf.
He gave me a once over and i could tell he thought I'd be an easy target. All he saw was a defenseless she wolf.
Sorry to disappoint you buddy, but I'm far from defenseless. I was born with killer instincts along with fangs and claws i knew how to use.
The rogue charged me and all i did was step away from him. He looked bewildered when he spun around.
I kept dancing away from him. Wearing down the little stamina this poor creature had. Once i saw four others coming at me I knew it was time to end this.
On his next charge i stepped out of his way but sank my fangs into his neck as he passed me. When he pulled away i snatched my head back, ripping out his throat. Successfully ending his life in under 2 seconds.
The other four reached me as i spun around. I jumped into the air to avoid a collision.
When i came down i landed on one and snapped his neck with my fall. I whipped away to grab the throat of the second rogue who attempted to bite at my ribs.
The third landed on top of me as I latched onto the second rogues neck. He knocked me off balance but i kept my hold. I chomped down, severing his wind pipe. He fell limp immediately.
As the second wolf hit the ground the third sank his teeth into the back of my neck. Not a vital area but dangerous all the same. I gave a growl of annoyance to him.
I then reared up and pushed myself over backwards to land on the wolf who was attached to my back. This caused the wind to get knocked out of him.
I flipped around and slashed my claws across his throat. Cutting his head almost completely off.
As i finished off the third i was slammed in the ribs. I went tumbling over and smacked against a tree. Shit that's gonna hurt later.
I was about to stand and rip this asshole a new one when he was grabbed by alpha Matthew and thrown a good 15 feet away.
I took this opportunity to assess the situation.
Some back up had arrived, about seven more wolves from the pack. None of them were Travis though. They each had at least two rogues against them.
However, there still a good twenty rogues running around looking for an easy opening. Filthy cowards.
i made it my job to start wiping out the extras. With them so close together it wasn't hard at all.
A swipe here, chomp there, slash here. Oh shit jump. Then out of nowhere there was a sharp pain in my left hind leg.
A little rogue attched herself to my leg and chomped hard, almost breaking the bone. However, before she could get more leverage i raised up on my front paws and kicked her in the head with my other back foot.
She must of been smaller than i thought cause she flew. Far. As my attention was drawn to the pup's skull i just bashed in with my feet, there was a searing pain my right shoulder. I howled in anger as i let my wolf take this one.
Lazira was itching to let loose on these bastards.
She used her weight and force to shove the wolf latched onto her shoulder into a tree. He grunted but didn't let go.
She continued slamming him over and over. Making each shove harder than the last, finally he fell to the groumd, releasing her shoulder. She bit down on his neck and continued to another rogue.
I let my wolf have the rest of the rogues. She finished them off easily. I noticed Travis came in almost at the end of the battle. He looked pissed off and upset. Really unfocused for a fight. He just killed three rogues right off the bat and that was all that was left.
I looked around and sighed when i noticed none of our pack members had died. They were beat up but hey, we did good!
Thirty something rogues on ten pack members. But why were there so many here? It was like they had a mini pack which went against everything a rogue stood for.
I started limping my way to Travis but he casually walked to the alpha. I stopped in my tracks and my wolf whined.
He hadn't looked at us since he got here. Normally he would be obsessing over my injuries. I felt a pang in my heart as i realized something.
He was really late to the fight. He was the third fastest runner in the pack. Underneath the alpha and then myself.
No way in hell did five simple volunteer fighters make it here before him. Now he isn't looking at me. That means something stopped him.
Once Travis is on a mission, especially one concerning me, nothing can stop him. But if he allowed me to be in harms way then that could only mean one thing.
it wasn't something, someone stopped Travis. I've been dreading this day.
