Chapter 15

I moaned as his lips pressed against my neck. I had to end this. This isn't right. No matter how right it feels or how much I want this, I'm just not that girl. I can't take  what isn't mine.

"Travis." I said again, a little less breathy.

He raised his head and I looked into his eyes. They were glowing a beautiful golden color. Shit, his wolf was in control. He smirked at me as he saw the realization in my eyes. He brought his hand to my cheek and rubbed cirles there with his thumb. "Hello sweetheart." He smiled lovingly. I  shook my head to release myself from the trance he put me in.

"Why are you here?" I ask. "Why are you touching me rightr now?" I looked down and whispered through the tightness in my throat, "You found your mate." A  tear slipped from my  eye and landed on his thumb,  which was still on my cheek.

He leaned forward and kissed just below  my  eye. "I do not need her. I  do not  want her."  He stated so calmly. I  gasped in shock. That doesn't matter! You can't reject your mate for such a simple reason. "You Avery, Lazira, you are who I want.  I would throw away a million mates to have you."

I shook my head profusely. "No! That's not right!" I cried out, clutching the front of his his shirt. "You can't do this. I've already accepted the fact that I can't have you. Please, don't make this harder. I'm strong. I can handle it." I all but pleaded to him.

He gave me a sad smile before nodding once. He pulled me into a hug, wrapping both arms around me as if his life depended on it. I leaned  into his embrce, sighing deeply. This will be the last time he ever touches me like this.  Even just a hug.  He pulled away far enough to kneel down in front of me. He turned his head to the side and placed his ear to my stomach. I cocked my head to the side. This is a little weird. He made a grunt of satisfaction before standing and looking into my eyes.

"Goodbye my angel." He said softly. before I could respond, he did the last thing I xpected. He pressed his lips to mine. I was shocked. He rarely kisses me. Maybe that's just Travis though. I leaned into the kiss. Putting as much passion into as possible.  All too soon we broke apart. Whether it was him or me or broke the kiss first, I don't know.

When I looked backed into his eyes, his wolf had disappeared and before me now stood a bewildered Travis.

"What.....How.....Did we.....Was that.....Wait, you were......oh no." I shook my head at his complete incapability to form more than three words at once. With a heavy heart I stepped back. Placing a very well formed mask over my face hiding away my inner turmoil. I looked as if I wasn't phased.

All of a sudden Travis features turned hard and angry. Maybe even disappointed. "I don't know what just occured, but it can't happen again. For crying out loud Avery, I have a mate now!"  He shouted at me as if I was the one in the wrong here. I didn't show him my feelings. I simply stated flatly, "You're in my house. You made the move. Your next one can be to get out."

Shock crossed his face as he looked around. His eyes landed on me again, "Right." he nodded. He then turned away and headed for the door. He paused before rounding the corner to shoot one last glance my way. I kept my mask up, disguising my features and keeping my face neutral. He won't know how much he affects me. Travis shook his head again and walked out.

I stood there. Unable to move. Unable to breathe. I heard him go out the front door. I heard his feet walk down the side walk. Soon, I couldn't even sense his presence anymore. A tear slipped from my eyes at the same time Lazire whimpered.

Eventually, I drew in a ragged, shakey breath and my body started to tremble with sobs. The tears were coming full force now. Not a dry spot on my cheeks. I slid down the wall and brought my knees up. Wrapping my arms around my knees, I burried my face.

And that's where I stayed, crying my heart out. For the very last time. The only thought I could conjure up was "Never again.".

Sorry it's short, but at least it's something.
