Chapter 19
Travis POV
I ran and I ran until my paws bled. It did no good though. She was gone. He took her. He's hurting her I know he is.
My wolf was fuming. He didn't care our feet were bleeding. He just wanted her back. I was wandering the woods now. I passed our pack's boundary. I was currently in no man's land.
Timmy came and told me they lost the scent miles back. I still couldn't find it. It was like they disappeared off the face of the earth.
What if he claims her against her will? Then I can never have her. Even if she still wants me, she won't have a choice in the matter.
Suddenly I heard screams. They were her's. She's alive! My god what is he doing to her? I ran as fast as I could but they never got louder. Her screams were already deafening but I should be closing in on them. It's like I'm not even going anywhere. I'm getting more pissed off by the second. It must be magic. That coward has the place spelled.
I howl. "I'm here baby. I'll find you. Just hang on." I howl as loud as I can until her screams come to an end. Tears are rolling out of my eyes and soaking into the fur on my muzzle.
I've never felt so helpless before. I can't even tell what direction she is.
Damn it! She is so close! That fucker will get what's coming to him! I swear!
"He'll regret taking what is MINE!" my wolf howls along with me.
Hold on Avery. Hang in there babygirl. I don't know how. I don't know when, but I'll find you even if it kills me. I'll find you angel.
Avery POV
As I opened my eyes for the un-knownth time, I registered a seering pain in my neck. Hot tears rolled down my cheeks without my permission.
God, it hurts so bad.
"What the hell did he do to me Lazira?"
"He tried to mark us." She answers quietly.
"Tried?" I ask.
"Yes. It didn't work because we do not accept him." She whispered.
"What will he do once he finds out it didn't work?" I force out shakily.
There's a long pause and I almost thought she disappeared again.
"...I'm not sure." Her voice fades away as the pain reignites another flame of anguish.
I close my eyes and begin counting my own heartbeats. But as I'm listening, I hear more than one.
Thump thump.... Thump thump.
That's mine. It sounds loud and slow in my ears.
Thump thump thump thump. Thump thump thump thump.
I furrow my brow in confusion. What the hell?
Subconsciously I place my hand on my stomach. Vaguely registering the fact that I'm untied.
Something presses against my hand and the movement startles me to the point I scream and fly backwards into the headboard.
Lazira chuckles in my mind.
"What just happened?" I ask her frantically.
"They wanted to say hi." She replies. I can picture her smiling softly in my mind.
"They?...Hi?...But my hand was...oh. Oh no. No, no, Lazira no. Please tell me I'm wrong." I beg urgently after gathering my thoughts.
"No sweety. We're pregnant. It was confirmed by his wolf." She tells me. Then, she proceeds to show me a memory of Travis and I in my bathroom when his wolf took over. He knelt in front of me and placed his head to my stomach. He was very pleased by that action.
"He knows?" I ask her.
"Travis does not, but his wolf does."
"I can't be pregnant Lazira! If Jeremy finds out, he'll....he'll kill them! We need to escape!" I begin to yell at her.
"I know my child, but please, don't act different. Let him have his way so he isn't suspicious. We must wait this out." She instructs me.
"I'd rather die! I don't want him touching me!" I protest.
"Me either child, but it is no longer only our life in danger!" She roars back.
I shut up then. She is right. The pups. I must do what's right for the pups. I must protect them.
"We are not helpless Avery."She speaks more calmly.
"We have been trained, but we are outnumbered AND we can not take any hits. We must wait until the precise time. We can do it." She tells me.
Yes. She is right. She has never led me astray before. I must trust my wolf if I want to get myself and my pups out alive.
