Chapter 34
Avery's P.O.V.
I stepped forward and reached my hand into the glass box. I gently cupped my son's face as a tear slid down my cheek. He's cold. Too cold for a newborn werewolf.
Joseph came up beside and grabbed my right hand in his. I noticed Travis glance at our hands for a moment before looking back at our son.
I looked over to Joseph and a silent confirmation passed between our eyes. We both stared at the incredibly small newborn before us. My hand still on his cheek. In actuality he wasn't much bigger than my hand. I pushed the thought of how premature he was away. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
Joseph squeezed my hand as he did the same. Transfering his power through me to my son. Black veins rippled up my arm as his pain was given to me. At the same time, blue veins slid down my hand and appeared acrossed his little chest. He was in pain. A lot of paon. My heart broke but I swore to not break concentration.
I felt Lazira rise within me and soon the power Joseph and I gave was tripled. She pushed. She fed her supernatural abilities out of us and to our little one. I heard a movement from in front of me. I allowed my eyes to open.
My baby stared up at me. His once green eyes burned a sapphire blue deeper than the clearest of oceans. They had a gold shimmer around them. The presence of a wolf could be felt around the room. Joseph cracked a huge grin as he saw what I did. My son already had his wolf. Already he was fighting for him. I gave Joseph's hand a tighter squeeze as the little boy's hand came up to hold my pinky finger.
More tears slid down my face as I choked back sobs of amazement.
Everything around me started getting fuzzy. My head swam. I was unsteady on my feet. Too much of my power had been drawn out but I didn't care.
"Princess..." Joseph whispered as he released my hand.
"Just a little more." I urged.
Soon my vision was gone. The sounds around me muffled. But I felt that little hand tighten remarkably around my pinky finger and I sighed.
I eases my hands away from my son as I started to collapse. I felt hands on me. Travis.
He pulled me tightly to his chest and ushered words I could not hear. Before allowing myself to once again succomb to the familiar darkness I said, "He's going to be okay."
