Chapter 11
True to Alpha Matthew's's word, the doc patched me up. He dismissed me about 4 hours after I woke up.
I was now on my way to the pack house. I could not wait to crawl in bed and forget about everything for awhile. It seemed like, if I didn't acknowledge it, it wasn't real.
My mind was betraying me. I needed to think of something else. I started thinking of the rogue attack. How on Earth, did that many rogues manage to sneak into our territory unnoticed. Not only that, what did they want? They had to be after something. Rogues don't band together like that. They tend to have authority problems.
I was about three hundred yards from the pack house when I heard voices. I slowed my walk and listened. I recognized James and Tony's voices. Yay!
I ran and caught sight of James. His back was to me so naturally, I jumped on it! He jumped at my attack but I could see the goofy ass grin on his face. I loved these two. They were my favorite people. Right now anyways.
James reached around and pulled me to the front of him so he could hug me. I kept my legs wrapped around his waist like a little kid.
He hugged me like his life depended on it and I hugged him back just as meaningfully.
James kissed the top of my head and sighed. "I missed you Avery."
"I missed you too James." I giggled.
"Hey, what about me?" Tony pouted from beside us. I giggled again and climbed down from James.
I jumped and hugged Tony. He caught me and spun me around as he hugged me. "That's more like it!" He announced.
I giggled again. "So, what have I missed?"
"Nothing but a headache." Tony said as James snorted.
I cocked my head to the side in confusion.
"A little wolf thinks she can replace you. That's all'" James said.
I growled but tried to cover it as a coughing kind of laugh. "HAH! Like that's possible. Y'all were probably all lost without me! No worries my soldiers, I shall fix this infestation problem." I declared.
James smiled, "See, I told you our little hellion would straighten things out."
"Can't wait for this show!" Tony grinned.
I hooked both my arms in one of their's and said, "Well gentlemen, I do believe we have a lesson to teach. Come along now." Both the boys laughed as we eagerly began the last of our trek to the pack house.
I was acting all giddy, hiding my true terror. I did not want this encounter to even happen. But it is obvious that girl has distressed my friends and pack. It's time to see what the big deal is.
As we reached the top steps to the pack house, I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest from beating so hard. I knew they could hear it. I was glad neither of them said anything.
I took a few steps as we waited on the front porch for a moment.
James leaned down to my ear, "Don't worry, she's all bark and no bite. One very loud, very squeaky, and extremely annoying bark."
I gave a laugh to that. "Alright, let's do this."
As the two boys pushed open the doors I heard a mixture of a blood curdling scream and a grunt. I jumped at the sound which pierced my ears.
"What the hell?" I all but yelled in question.
"That's Bethany." Tony sneered out vehemently.
