Chapter 8

I sat in the darkness, enjoying the numbing sensation throughout my body. I didn't feel any pain. I had no worries. It was like a blanket had been laid over me to keep the bad feelings out.

I drifted off here and there. I don't know where I would go but it would feel as if i was floating. Just no effort was made to keep myself floating.

It was calm and serene. But after awhile I grew restless. I was beginning to feel bored. Bored, and lonely. I called out to my wolf. I couldn't find her. That's strange.

"Lazira!" I called again. I heard whispering but that was it. I called her again and again. After a few minutes I saw a pair of eyes. They looked familiar.

I walked towards the pair of eyes. They didn't move. The black veil lifted slightly and I could see my wolf. She looked at me intently. I looked back. Neither of us said a word.

Then she spoke, "Hello Avery. Are you ready to go?" "Go where?" I asked. "Go home. some people have been waiting for you." she responded. "Oh." was my brilliant reply.

I layed my hand on her back and she guided me. How she knew where to turn in this dark place I do not know. Eventually, a small white dot began to appear. The longer we walked, the bigger the dot grew.

Soon it looked like I was staring into a lightbulb. "We're here." She stated. "What do we do now?" I asked. "We wait."

"Wait for what?"

"For them to pull us back."

"Who is 'them' and where is 'back'?"

Lazira chuckled, "Enough questions my child. You learn in time. Now let's sit and rest until the time comes."

I was a little annoyed she called me a child but I began to feel my blanket return. Then all my worries disappeared. I began drifting again.

Hmmm, maybe I'll stay here with Lazira. She will keep me company. My heart won't get broken, and no pain or scars will be felt. That's not a bad idea.

"No child, we must return. We haven't succeeded our duties yet." Lazira whispered to me.

"oh....ok." I yawned to her before everything faded away again.
