Chapter 10 | Death Happened

Let's just say stuff happened.

We headed off to hunt for a town, slowly because of Shrimp's stupid headache, but I guess I can't get too mad at her. It looked like glass cut her head, and it did NOT look friendly. My shirt was half covered in blood already that I had wrapped around her head.

I wondered if she ever noticed it. Anyways, we walked and walked for what seemed like forever, until we finally saw a path.

"That looks promising." I said. "Yeah, it sure does. I just hope we got here before others." She said. Her question was soon answered.

As we were walking the path, we heard fighting. "I need that for my child!!!" One woman said, probably wrestling for supplies.

Suddenly, she screamed. My eyes widened. I grabbed Levy and forced us behind a bush to hide, Lily also following our example.

Now we could see the action. This guy with blonde hair and a weird, lightning like scar on his eye, had just KILLED this couple AND their daughter, who was about 5. They all seemed to be country, wearing cowboy hats and carrying guns.

Melee weapons were what was "in" now. I carried a knife, though a katana would come in handy more.

There was a girl beside lightning-scar who had long, white hair and was wearing a very revealing outfit. She was holding these balls (HA!) that seemed to be made of pure darkness. I examined them closer.

Since Poison did a lot of sciency weird stuff, I could identify some stuff. I saw that the ball was a grenade, but a special type of grenade, one that I COULDN'T identify.

"She's got grenades." I whispered to Levy. She nodded, indicating that she heard me, and we continued to watch.

"I think that's all the supplies here." Lightning-scar said. I turned and was about to say something to Levy when I froze, hearing this -"Wait. Do you hear something?" The Grenade Launcher asked.

Lightning-scar tilted his head. I held my breath, assuming the others were doing the same. "No. Come on, if anybody IS watching us they don't matter. All the supplies are gone, and if they saw us kill them, they won't bother." He said.

We watched as they disappeared before we dared to make a move. "Crap." I said. "That's an understatement." Shrimp said. "Would you rather me say a different word?" I asked. "No, no, crap is fine..." She said.

"Well, now what are we going to do?" I asked. "I don't know. It's been hours. I say we go find somewhere a little more private and set up camp, look for something in the morning." She said. I saw a glint of sadness in her eyes.

"Are you sad about all this?" I asked. "Who wouldn't be? My home was destroyed, the one thing I relied on every day of my life. I had an internet friend-Lucy Heartfilia-she was, like, my best friend, and she could be dead. Everyone that I've seen walking down the streets could be dead. I have nowhere to call home." She said.

"We'll find a home." I said. She looked down, I could tell holding back tears. I sighed, wanting to hug her so bad, but resisted the urge. "Come on, let's go do what you said." I said.

"Yeah."

*Author's Note*

Hey, guys!!! Now, I want to throw in there, I'm trying to make this realistic. Yes, as you probably know by now, the characters that killed were Mira and Laxus, and the characters that WERE killed were Bisca, Alzack, and Osuka. Rest in piece. Poor Osuka, she never got to live life. Good thing this is just a book and that didn't actually happen!!!

I'd also like to add that I am making Levy experience some sadness and depression because I've seen SO MANY things where the characters adapt without feelings to the fact that their home was destroyed, millions of lives lost. Gajeel, on the other hand, didn't really HAVE anything to loose, but Levy had a home. So I thought I'd add that.
