Chapter 67

Violet's POV:

Eight Months Later

"I wonder what colour eyes Rose will have." Luke wondered. Rose was only born two days ago along with her twin brother Steele.

We named Steele after Luke's fathers' middle name and also because when the kid opened his eyes they were the brightest things anyone has ever seen.

They were so blue they looked grey. Even Zach couldn't believe it when he came by to see.

Rose's eyes were still blue but they were darkening.

I was up and walking around because hell nothing keeps me in a bed.

Also because my mom had taken a very bad curve. Zach had said the therapy she was doing was not helping her anymore. I was taking Rose and Steele to see her because she has not seen them yet and then it will be a final goodbye.

"Are you alright?" Luke asked rubbing my shoulder. The twins were allowed to go home today which was nice. I also had a tattoo appointment to finish the sleeve. Rose and Steele were being placed on my arm under a light blue rose. The flower for Rose and the colour for Steele.

I had one remaining spot for it.

"I'm fine." I whispered.

Luke held the two car seats while I grabbed my bags and we made our way to the floor my mom was on.

Her room was quiet, Zach sat in a chair looking at the clip board but you could tell he was hurting. His fiancé sat near him knitting quietly.

"There's my flower..." My mom whispered. Her skin looked grey and her once blue sparkling eyes were dull.

"Two?" She asked laughing and I nodded.

"This is Steele Ethan Rivers." I smiled.

"Oh look at his beautiful eyes, he is named after your father and brother." She said smiling to Luke and he nodded.

"And then this is Rose Jennifer Rivers." I said and she smiled while tears fell down her cheeks.

"My new little flowers in the garden." She whispered while touching the light brown hair on Rose's head.

Luke began buckling them back in as my mom took my hand.

"I'm so proud of you, Violet." She whispered and I couldn't help but let a tiny sob out.

"Don't cry, flower. I get to see your father again and I am always watching over you." She said and I nodded wiping under my eyes.

"Zach is reading me all of your columns again. They help me fall asleep." She said laughing. I looked at the stack of magazines and next to it was a rose that was beginning to wilt.

My mom followed my gaze and smiled.

"I'm wilting but two new flowers were added to the garden." She said leaning back.

I suddenly started to panic as I noticed her breathing become heavier.

"Mom?" I asked.

Zach came over and looked down sadly and she took his hand.

"I love you both. Take care of each other." She whispered. I hugged her tightly and she laughed breathlessly before I felt her whole body go still.

***

A couple of weeks later the twins began to stay awake longer and longer. Zeus loved the two of them and he would lay beside them when they were asleep.

Luke was helping the movers, move our things into our new home. We couldn't stay with his parents forever.

Luke's father paid for my mother's funeral and it seemed like the whole Mafia had shown up.

One day I was packing up the final bit of clothes when Rose had woken up. I walked over and she glanced up at me and I almost fell over.

Her one eye had remained blue like Luke's and her other eye was beginning to turn a bright green.

Luke thought she was the most gorgeous thing he had ever seen. He said that she looked a lot like me.

When we moved into our new house fully, Luke and I decorated Rose and Steele's room and Zeus had chosen that room to lay in.

He laid in the middle of the floor as they were sleeping it was honestly the cutest thing ever.

We were finally a happy family.

Is this the end of the story?

Kind of, next chapter will be a look into the future and I will have a new book out called Living as a Rivers, it will be based more on Rose and Steele and growing up in the Mafia and fulfilling Mafia duties, I know this book kind of went away from the Mafia theme but he next book will be back on track.
