Karaoke - #21

Last time: Miku, Luka, Rin, Len, Teto and Gumi all met up at the mall.

Rin's PoV

We are going to the arcade next, for Len's sake.

We've already been to lots of clothing and beauty shops, and Len's been complaining the whole time.

He hasn't really bought anything, other than a few new hair ties. I didn't force him to, heheh~

The second Len spots the arcade, he is off. He goes straight to the bike simulation arcade game. I decide to join him and we race.

"I'm so gonna beat you, noob." Len said, sticking his tongue out at me.

"We'll see about that." I smirk.

3...2...1...GO!

We're off. Len overtakes me, staying that way for three quarters of the race. At the last minute his bike crashes and I overtake him.

I finish in first place.

"What did you say about me being a noob?" I ask sweetly, looking at Len with an innocent expression.

Len growls and jumps off the machine. I smirk. He always acts like this when I beat him..

I stroll over to Luka, who is playing a game of darts. I watch her. She lines up her shot, and...

...Bullseye!

Luka celebrated her success, and I clapped.

"Well done!" I say.

She looks at me and smiles.

"Wanna try?" She asks, offering me the darts.

"Sure." I reply.

I stand where she was, aim and....

...the dart bounced off the board and onto the ground.

"Oh." I say half-heartedly.

"Better luck next time." Luka says.

I nod and smile. Then I spot Miku, who is wandering around the arcade, looking around at the machines.

I walk over to her. She is humming "Online Game Addict Chant" as she wanders around.

"Hey Miku!" I say, and she jumps.

"Ah-! Oh, um, hi Rin!" She says with a nervous laugh.

"Have you tried anything yet?" I ask, and she shakes her head.

"Not yet." She replied. I frown and look around.

"Try the claw machine." I say with a smirk.

She looks at me like I'm crazy.

"That thing is almost impossible!" She wails, like a child making up excuses for something they don't want to do.

"So what? At least try." I say, trying to persuade her. She sighs, and walks over to one of the machines.

She has picked the "Neko Atsume" claw machine, and is targeting the white cat.

Attempt One

The claw slowly comes down, nowhere near the cat Miku was aiming for. She sighs in frustration as the claw lifts nothing up.

Attempt Two

This time, the claw grabs the leg of the cat, begins to pull it up, but halfway there it drops out again.

"Seriously..?" Miku mumbled.

Attempt Three

The claw closes around the body of the cat. It lifts it up and carries it across. Just when I think she's going to win, the claw loses grip and the cat falls.

Miku thumps her fist against the machine in pure frustration.

"I hate these things and they hate me!" She shouted, "total waste of time!"

I laugh at her reaction. She turns to face me and glares at me.

"WHAT ARE YOU LAUGHING AT!?" She yelled.

"Nothing~" I say, "come on, let's go now, before you end up breaking one of these machines in frustration." I grab her arm and lead her to the others.

"Guys, I hears there was a karaoke somewhere here in the mall." Luka said, once we had got to them.

"Really!? Let's go!" I shout, and everyone flows out the arcade, and to the karaoke.

We get there and take a seat in the corner.

"I want to go first!!" An excited Teto says, jumping up and marching over towards the microphone.

Teto's PoV

I'm going to admit. I've never really done karaoke before.

But for some reason, when I went up on that stage and started singing, it felt unusually natural.

I sang Kagerou Daze.

Before I knew it, the song ended, and I'm smiling from ear to ear.

I really enjoyed that!!

I bound back over to the table my friends are sitting at.

"That was amazing!" Gumi said, clapping.

"Nice one, Teto!" Miku smiled.

"Not bad, for a UTAU." Rin said, smiling a small smile.

"Thanks guys!" I said, sitting back down.

Len's PoV

I looked at Rin.

"Hey Rin. Wanna sing a duet?" I ask.

Rin hesitates for a moment, and I fear she will decline my request.

To my surprise, she smiles and nods.

"Let's do this."

We took our positions and started singing Remote Controller.

I'm not sure about Rin, but I'm feeling a little nervous.

But we song through the whole song with no mistakes.

Despite my nerves, I enjoyed that.

Miku, Luka, Gumi and Teto are all clapping.

"Good job!" Luka says.

"You two are really good!" Teto adds.

Miku's PoV

Just as the twins sit back down, Luka nudged me, signalling for me to go up.

"Go on," she says, "you'll be amazing."

I hesitate, and then nod.

I walk up to the microphone.

I take a deep breathe before starting to sing Tell Your World.

Even though In absolutely terrified that I'll make a mistake and mess up in front of everyone, I don't.

I sing the song with no mistakes.

Eventually the song ends and I stop singing.

Everyone seems to have gathered round me, and they are all clapping.

I've never been in the centre of attention before.

And then I notice someone right at the back.

A guy with dark blue hair and kind eyes.

Kaito had watched my performance.

Narrator: So what did you guys think~?

Miku: STUPID ARCADE MACHINES!!

Len: ...

Narrator: Arigatou and Sayonara~!
