Welcome Back Luka - #39

Last time: Luka set her mind to making up with Miku, but was delayed my the teacher.

Miku's PoV

Rin whispers something, her voice in a tiny whisper so quiet I can't make out what she says.

I'm about to ask, when someone else knocks at the door.

Rin and Len stare intently at the door, wondering who it can be.

Rin rushed over to the window. She peers out and lets out a small gasp.

I instantly feel myself get nervous.

"What? Who is it?" I ask nervously. Rin sighs and turns back to me.

"It's Luka." She says, a mixture of anger and upset showing in her eyes.

I sigh, pacing around my cramped bedroom.

"Should I go and tell her to leave or something?" Len asked.

I shake my head.

"Thanks for the offer, but I should probably go and see what she had to say." I say, feeling tears form in my eyes again as I think of the possibilities.

"I'll come with you." Rin declares, standing up and walking over to me.

"Thanks, but I think I should do this by myself." I tell her.

Rin sighs.

"Fine. Good luck." she says, and I take a deep breath before going to answer the door.

I unlock it and cautiously open it.

Luka is standing there, with guilt plastered all over her face.

She isn't in her school uniform. Maybe she changed at home, or maybe she didn't go to school today, like me.

Luka averts her gaze and looks down at the cold ground.

"Um... Hi Miku..." she says.

"Hi..." I say awkwardly.

Luka takes a deep breath before forcing herself to look me in the eye.

"I'm guessing you stayed off school because of what happened yesterday." she says.

I hesitate before nodding. I watch as Luka's expression grows more guilty.

"I just wanted to apologise. I didn't mean anything I said. It's just... You and Kaito were hanging out and becoming such good friends, and I... I guess I got jealous of you two. I didn't want to hurt you - I didn't mean to - but once I started I couldn't stop. I'm sorry, and I understand if you don't want to be friends anymore..." Luka says, before breaking down into an emotional mess.

Seeing who is usually such a calm, thoughtful girl in this state makes me feel kind of sorry for her.

I know it must have taken her a lot of courage to say that, and I also know it was accident.

I pull her into a tight hug.

Luka is shocked at first, but soon relaxed and hugs me back.

"I forgive you. I'm sorry.. I didn't know how you felt." I sigh.

"Don't apologise.." Luka whispers, drying her eyes.

We break the hug and smile at each other, just as Rin and Len rush out of my bedroom and appear at the doorway.

"What's going on!?" Rin asked, eyeing Luka.

"Calm down Rin..." Len sighed, grabbing onto Rin's arm, but she shakes him off.

Luka stares back at Rin with a pained expression, and that's enough to tell me that they got into a physical fight.

"Luka's apologised Rin. She couldn't control what she said, and she feels really bad now. I forgave her, so can you do the same..?" I pleaded.

Rin thinks for a moment.

"Fine. If Miku forgives you then I do to. Just be careful." Rin warned.

Luka smiled.

"Thank you Rin.." she said, throwing he arms around the blonde girl. Rin isn't sure how to react at first, but accepts the hug with stiff shoulders.

Len smiles from the doorway.

"Welcome back, Luka." he smiles.

Luka smiles back at him, and instantly, all the drama becomes something from the past. Something we have learned from.

"So, what  happened between you two then?" I asked, looking at Luka and Rin.

I have my guesses - I just want to be sure.

"We kinda got into a fight." Rin admitted, "I may or may not have got carried away.." she says quietly.

That's when I notice that Luka has a pretty nasty bruise on her stomach.

"Oh.. Are you okay Luka?" I ask her.

"I'm fine," Luka replies, shrugging her shoulders.

Len looked at Rin with a very unamused expression.

Rin stares back at her brother.

"What?" she asked, pouting. Len sighed.

"You got into a fight again." Len said, crossing his arms. Rin looked at him angrily.

"Guess who gets a gold star for a very good job? Way to state the obvious, genius." Rin responded, rolling her eyes and her brother.

"Guys, let's not get into another fight.." I say worriedly. Rin and Len sigh.

"Fine.." They say in unison.

"Anyway, I have to go now. Part time job." Luka said.

Rin raised her eyebrows.

"Don't. Work. Too. Hard." She reminded Luka.

"I won't." Luka ensured her. She waved at us and then ran off.

Len looked at Rin.

"We better go to." He told her.

Rin rolled her eyes.

"Fine, see you soon Miku~!" Rin chirped, and her and her brother ran off in the opposite direction.

I smile and go back inside the house.

Welcome back, Luka.

Miku: And we will end it there. Because I'm hungry and I want a leek.

Rin: Psh, diva...

Miku: HEY!! T-T

Rin: As for now, sayonara~!
