Last time: Rin assured Miku that she is capable of standing up to Meiko and winning Kaito's heart.

Miku's PoV

The next day I confidently stride into school.

I confidently stride into our homeroom.

I feel confidence fizzing up inside of me - like I am ready to take on Meiko.

However, that confidence is short lived.

The minute Meiko drifts into the classroom, I feel the confidence that was filling up inside of me evaporate.

Now I realise what I'm up against.

I look at Meiko with scared eyes as she talks to all of the kids that surround her.

Rin walks over to me.

"Are you ready?" She asks.

"No." I choke, slumping down into my seat.

Rin sighs.

"You won't get anywhere if you keep backing out every time." Rin points out.

"I know but... I'm just too weak!" I say nervously.

"Miku, you have no self confidence. If
you believe you can do it, then you can." Rin tells me.

"Can we talk to Kaito first?" I plead.

"Fine." Rin agrees.

Just at that moment, Kaito walks in the room. My heart starts pounding inside of my chest, seeing as it's been a while since I've last seen him.

I gather up all of my courage and walk over to him, with Rin following me.

Kaito spots us strolling over to him.

"Oh, hello Miku, Rin." Kaito greets us.

"Hi Kaito." I say, and Rin awkwardly waves at him. "I just wanted to talk to you about.. what happened on Thursday."

Kaito raised his eyebrows at the mentioning on Thursday.

"Okay, I'm all ears." Kaito says, smiling a thin smile.

I sigh.

"I don't know what Meiko has told you." I begin. "But she was the one who approached me at first. She got mad at me because I was hanging out with you - she seems to think that you are her property."

Kaito looks a little bit shocked at what I just told him.

"Really? Well, she may think that, but... we are just friends, and that's all we will ever be." Kaito explains.

I feel my shoulders relax, now that I know Kaito doesn't share feelings for Meiko the way she does for him.

"Okay. Thanks." I smile.

"No problem, Miku." Kaito smiles back.

I turn around and walk back to my desk, Rin following close behind me. She looks a little bit terrified.

"Rin, are you okay?" I ask her.

"I'm fine." she sighs.

"Are you still not used to Kaito yet?" I question. She nods slowly. "Oh."

Rin quickly changes the subject.

"You still need to speak to Meiko, though." She reminds me.

"Oh shoot, I do, don't I?" I say. Rin nods, just as our homeroom teacher walks in the room.
