"Should I wear this, or this?" I asked holding up two dresses, a white sundress and blue dress with polka dots on it, and looking at Sarah for approval.
Today I was going out with Eli and I wanted to look as good as I could. Sarah looked at me with her hands under her chin and looking like she was really thinking.
She crinkled her nose distastefully. "Hmmm I don't like either. . .how about this one!" Sarah suggested, quickly pulling something out of her purse.
Frustrated, I threw the two dresses down and stomped over to Sarah. "Are you serious, when will you ever say my style is good" I screamed half seriously and half jokingly.
She smiled. "Your style is good. . .kind of. . .sometimes. . .but just not for this occasion. Me, you and Alice will go shopping soon and we'll show you how to shop around here, but for now just try this on", she smiled gently.
I looked at the dress and snatched it out her hands and went to my bathroom to try it on. When I looked into the mirror, I sadly realized she was right. This dress was awesome. I looked at the black and pink sun dress that stopped right at the thigh and flowed easily. Yep this was definitely a dress that would catch Eli's eye. Cute yet flirtatious.
I rolled my eyes and let out a heavy sigh knowing my approval of the dress would just emphasize my fashion skills compared to Sarah's. Leisurely, I walked out of the bathroom.
Sarah glanced at me and smiled. "Soo you like the dress?"
"Yeah I do", I replied kind of bummed out that Sarah knows my style better than I do.
She smiled. "Great. . .now lets curl your hair and put you in some makeup." Sarah helped me curl my unruly blonde hair and apply makeup, paying extra attention to my eyes. She commented that she had did a 'Smokey eye' for my eye makeup. I didn't really use makeup so I didn't know exactly what a Smokey eye was, but whatever it was I loved it. My blue eyes really popped making them seem more lively and expressive.
She dug in my closet and pulled out some flip-flops. "Here . .I let you have a little bit of your own style to your attire", she said handing them to me.
"Thanks", I giggled as I fumbled to put them on because I was in a hurry. "Sweetie, Eli's here", my screamed from downstairs. Surprisingly she had took it very well when I told her about my date. She thought it was wonderful that I was moving on with Wade.
I jumped up in excitement and looked at Sarah who nodded towards my door and we both walked out. I slowly walked down the stairs and noticed my mom waiting right by the stairs.
My mom saw me and quickly walked up to me. "Elissa hurry up. Your date is out of there. Your father is trying out his scare tactics again",she whispered, thumbing in the direction
Me and Sarah looked at each other. I gasped looking at my mom with nervousness. "I thought he worked!"
"He got off early today, so stop asking questions and go help your date!" She pushed me into the direction of the living room. Quickly, I stumbled down the two living room stairs and walked into the living room and saw my dad on the sofa giving Eli a hard state.
Eli was focusing intently on his hands, trying his best to ignore my dad's threatening stare. I had been under that stare of doom a few unlucky times of my life and I knew how nerve-wrecking the experience was. I was about to march right up to Eli when I suddenly took a double take at my dad.
I felt like hiding in a hole when I realized he had his, very, very large and very ominous, hunting gun in his hand and was leisurely reloading it right in front of Eli to scare him.
