I rushed outside of Eli's house. The sun was beginning to set, obscuring the landscape making my mission entirely more harder than it had to be since the entire backyard was now dimly lit. Luckily they had a few lights in the back and their backyard was huge.
With those lights revealing a stoned pathway, I walked across their deck and down the stairs. My head frantically switched back and forth searching for Eli. He had rushed out the house so quickly and I'm pretty sure his sudden mood switch shocked everyone. Now I figured it was my job to find him and set him straight.
The longer it took to find him, the more I became worried. Deciding to pick up the pace, I walked across their yard and to the pool. The pool created a blue glow across the surrounding area which made seeing the yard easier.
I was halfway across the pool when, I saw Eli hunched over with his feet submerged in the crystal blue pool. His back was to me but I could still tell it was him. Slowly, I walked over to him. My foot steps echoed softly on the stone ground and Eli's body tensed.
"Eli is everything okay?" I questioned in a hush voice.
"Go away", he spat at me catching my by surprise. Momentarily, I paused and stared at him. A minute ago he was all nice to me and now he was being a huge jerk. I was trying to help him, so there was no reason to push me away. I pushed down my anger at his rudeness and gently padded closer to him.
"Eli how about we just talk about it", I said coming right by him and sitting down.
My eyes shot to what was in his hands and my mouth dropped. That certain rumor was correct. Without a second thought, I snatched the cigarette out of his mouth threw it into the pool watching as the cancer stick fizzled out and floated on the top.
"Are you nuts!?" I screamed. "Smoking is disgusting and it slowly kills you."
For a moment Eli looked between his hand that had just been holding the cigarette and to the pool where the cigarette was now floating. He let out a breath, white smoking streaming from his mouth. There was still a stunned expression on his face from my forwardness, but he turned his back to me.
"Eli we can talk about this" I whispered gently. His body was still tense and I knew despite his seemingly calm composure, he was ready to blow at any second.
"No I don't want to talk about it, I want you to leave. . .now", he added, when I made no attempt to leave.
I cringed at his words, hurt by the venom in them. It was taking everything in me not to hit him and as I watched the way he ruled me out and acted like I wasn't there, the urge became even stronger. I balled my fist becoming angry now. "How am I going to get home?" I hissed.
His reply: A shrug. An indifferent, uncaring shrug.
My jaw dropped and before I knew it, I was getting up and had shoved him. "You rude bastard. I was trying to help you, but okay then be that way see if I care, cause I don't and fine I'll walk 8 miles home in the dark", I screamed and began to storm away. I couldn't believe the nerve of this guy. I had did absolutely nothing to him and for him to throw me to the side like I was a nuisance hurt.
"Wait Elissa", I heard him call from behind me.
I ignored him and stormed inside his house and shut the patio door and locked it. I was so caught up in my thoughts I didn't realize what was in front of me. I ran into someone's chest and bounced back, stumbling backwards.
Breathing deeply, I looked up. To my surprise it was Dylan. There was a large grin ingrained on his face. One minute I'm standing shocked and still furious from the argument with Eli and the next I'm wrapped in Dylan's arms and yanked forward into his chest by him.
