The minute that my eyes opened brightness and whiteness clouded my vision.

I was literally blinded. Shading my eyes with my hand, I looked around in a daze.

Hearing the monotonous beating of the monitor and seeing the IV's connected to me, it became clear where I was.

"I'm in a hospital...why?" I asked myself monotonously, still stuck in the limbo between consciousness and unconsciousness. I put my hand on my face and groaned lowly. I felt completely tired and drained.

I felt around my head and realized bandages were wrapped securely around my skull.

I didn't know what was going on. For a few moments I stayed in the bed, trying to fight off my fatigue before I  moved the cover off of me and trudged to the door. I listened to see if anybody was outside and didn't hear anything.

Quietly, I opened the door and peeked out. No one was out there except for a few nurses.

I looked down at my outfit and realized I was in a hospital gown and bare footed.

It felt like I was in a mental hospital, I mean white rooms, this gown, a bandage on my head, what the hell was going on!?

Trying to go unnoticed, I shut my room door and looked around the hospital room.

It was like any other hospital room. A hospital bed sat in the center, a big window was off to the side, a TV was situated directly in front of the bed, and there was a bathroom and two chairs for visitors.

The only thing out of the ordinary was a lone leather jacket on one of the chairs.

"Some one was here, or is here," I mumbled to myself. Tiptoeing to the bathroom door, I swung it open and no one was in there. I sighed relieved. Imagine the awkwardness if someone had been in there.

I walked to the room door again and peeked out of it. Deciding to the find the waiting room, I padded out the room and shut the door lightly. I walked to the counter where a nurse sat. She looked pleasant enough

"Excuse me where can I find the waiting room at?" I asked the lady at the desk as politely as I could.

The typing of her computer stopped, and she looked at me up and down grudgingly. The distaste was clear. Wow, maybe I was bad judge in character.

"Um miss, aren't you suppose to be in your room?" She questioned haughtily.

I frowned at the patronizing tone. "Yeah, but I was-"

She cut me off. "Miss! Please go to your room! You aren't suppose to be out at this time," she hissed at me while picking up the telephone.

"Well what time is it?" I sneered back. Some people just had the most horrible people manners.

"It's about to be 11 p.m." She rolled her eyes and then adverted them, clearly telling me she was done with this conversation and me. "Now please go to your room before I have to call the -"

"Okay! I'm going!" Just like her I rolled my eyes. Moodily, I walked into my room and shut the door.

"I just wanted to see why I was here....I'll show her," I murmured to myself a moments later after pacing my room angrily. Slyly, I opened the door again, but immediately stopped seeing she was staring directly at me. Caught, I waved sheepishly and shut the door again.

"Gosh!" I paced a few seconds thinking how to get out of this room. "Brain blast!" I screamed.

I walked to the door again and opened it slowly and peeked out, she was talking on the phone. Quietly, I got on my knees, shut the door, and crawled pass the desk where she was sitting. She didn't even notice as I crawled around the corner and got up. On my feet, I began to sprint away from the corridor once I was out of her sight.

I had no clue where I was. Turning the corner, I instantly smacked into something hard. The collision sent me flying on the floor.

"Elissa are you okay?!" A deep voice was saying, while chuckling a little.

"Mhhmm," I groaned looking up at the ceiling. He grabbed me by the hand and pulled me up to my feet.

Immediately I was engulfed into a hug."Elissa, you're awake, I've been so worried!"

The intoxicating smell and the way his touch gave me shivers immediately alerted me to who the person was.

"Eli," I mumbled sinking into his warmth.

He hugged me tighter before stepping back to give me space. Gentle hands on my shoulder, he eyed me warily from warm forest green eyes. "Why were you running?" He asked.

I looked at him and to be truthful I didn't even know why I was running. I shrugged which caused him to laugh.

"Okay, I think you need to lay down. How long have you been up?"

 I shrugged again.

He frowned. "I think the hit to your head really messed you up." The happiness was no longer present on his face. He looked livid.

I had to agree with him on that though. "Why are you here and where is Wade and where are my my parents and how long have I been out?" I asked raining questions on him.

"Um because I was worried. I don't know that bastard fled the scene and at home and about a day."

I looked at him shocked. "A day?"

He nodded solemnly, a frown appearing on his Adonis- like features. "Yeah you have a concussion so the doctors, and I were keeping an eye on you," he said grabbing my hand and walking me back.

"Where were you at?" I asked.

"I was getting a soda." He pointedly lifted up a can of Mountain Dew.

 "Eli, why did Wade run?"

He shrugged, taking a sip of his drink before answering me. The frown was still perfectly intact. "Because he's an ass, a cowardly ass."

I giggled and watched as a smirk crawled on his face as he stared down at me. "Where is Sarah and Trish.

"They went home two hours ago." He smiled.

"You stayed?" I questioned not believing he would be the one I would see when I woke up instead of my parents or something. I just had the best parents. Sarcasm.

He nodded. "I thought it was obvious why I stayed. I love you."

His words made me smile until the thought of Shelby filtered through my mind. "If you loved me then you wouldn't have kissed Shelby." I stepped away from now remembering he had no right to utter those three words since we weren't even together.

He stepped forward, closing the gap between us. I bumped against the wall trying to evade him, but that seemed to only encourage him. Grabbing my hands, he brought us even closer. I hated how tantalizing shivers ran down my spine from his touch.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry Elissa. It wasn't suppose to happen that way." Eli sadly shook his head.

I snatched my hands away from him with a scowl. Glowering up at him, I hissed the words I have been dying to ask ever since I saw the heartwrenching scene. "Why did you cheat?"
