I woke up in the same place I was about a week ago. My head was on something comforting and warm. Through narrowed eyes realization quickly hit me that I was in Eli's arms. He had managed to squeeze himself on the hospital bed and now I laid enclosed into his arms. Burying my head into his shirt, I wrapped my arms around him and felt like no one could harm me. He let out a deep breath and moved slightly.
"Elissa, you okay?" He asked rubbing my back.
Shaking my head, I avoided his eyes. "No." I seethed out harshly. "I broke my ankle, you weren't there, I almost died, I was scared and alone, and my attacker knows how I look."
He raised up more so we could make eye contact. "I'm sorry Elissa I wasn't there but-"
I cut him off and looked at him directly in the eyes. "Why are you even here the last time I talked to you, you were a complete jerk and changed the time and then arrived when you wanted to, leaving me waiting for a whole hour." My words were cold and he visually flinched from my tone.
Silence descended over as he thought for a second and then shook his head "I arrived at 9, that's the time we agreed on. I wouldn't keep you waiting downtown like that especially at night and I didn't say anything rude to you." He insisted.
I pushed myself away from him and stared at him disgusted. Why was he lying to me and directly to my face too? "Yes you did you changed it to 8 and then when I was there for at least 30 minutes waiting. I texted you and you told me to stop nagging and you'll be there where you be there!" I started to tear up, I couldn't believe he was lying to me. When would he stop playing game. "I have proof" I started to look around for my phone but then remembered I dropped it and broke it when i was running.
With a pained frown, he wiped one of my tears away. "I swear I didn't change the time, so please stop crying babe."
"Then who texted me from your phone...was it Shelby?" I hissed.
"I don't know...not that I know of, the only time I left my phone was when I took a shower, and when I got in she wasn't in my room and I locked my door but I really don't know who used my phone, I promise." He hugged me.
"Eli I was so scared." I admitted still feeling the anger boil in me, but the memories flashed into my mind and overpowered my fury.
"I know I wish I could of got there sooner." He hugged me tighter. "I don't want to ever lose you, I love you Elissa." I began to cry in his shirt. "I'm sorry I don't know what I said!" He rambled.
Softly, I shook my head. "No I'm just really glad to see you."
I heard him sigh. "Me too, me too."
He pulled away and looked at my foot. "How is that feeling?" He questioned, eyebrows furrowed.
I looked at my foot which had a pink cast on it. "It doesn't hurt...do you know how long I'm going to have wear this?"
He shook his head. "Here I'll go get the doctor."
My fingers tugged at his shirt and he eyed me perplexed. "I don't want to be alone." My attacker was probably still at large and who knew if my attacker now had some vendetta against me for getting away. He could come up at any moment and easily finish me off. With a cast holding me back, I couldn't run that fast.
With soft, nimble actions he gently pried my tense fingers from his shirt. "Don't worry I wont let anything hurt you, I'll be right back." He kissed me on the forehead. I shook my head and watched him walk out. A couple moments later he came back in with a doctor.
"Hello Elissa. How are you doing?" He asked looking at his clipboard.
"Good...um do you know how long this will be on me", I asked. He looked at my foot and then his clipboard "ah yes, yes, it will be on for around 6-8 weeks." He smiled while shock took over my facial expression.
