Katherine's POV
The smell of antiseptic and the white surroundings greeted me as I woke up. Ugh. I'm in the hospital. I tried to sit up but a hand stopped me to do so.
"Queen don't."
I looked at the owner of the voice and saw my partner, Cain Vaughnn Mysterio, codename: Pharoah.
"Pharaoh, bakit ako nandito? Wala akong matandaang major injuries ko maliban sa daplis ko sa paa."
"You fainted Queen," nakasimangot na saad nito.
"I-what? Are you kidding me?"
"Hindi ako nagbibiro Esther, you scared me. I even thought you really got shot but when I checked you, there were no fatal injuries at all. Nothing new, that is. YOU.FAINTED," he said with a frown and called me by my second name.
"Oh man, huwag mo itong ipagsasabi sa mga Guardians, Cain kundi--"
"Kundi ay ano Agent Queen?" singit ng isang boses na kilalang kilala ko.
Tinignan ko ang bagong dating at tumambad sa akin ang mukha ng aming pinuno. Carlos "Zeus" Rodriguez. The head and co-founder of Guardians, the elite special forces organization that I belong to. We fondly call him Captain kahit pa siya ang pinakamataas sa aming grupo.
"Eherm. Captain Zeus, what made you come here?" I nervously acknowledged our Head Guardian. Despite the smile, he clearly radiates the dangerous aura with authority.
"Bumibisita, ano pa ba? Ang hindi ko maintindihan, sa ilang buwan ng delikadong operation niyo sa Thailand ay hindi ka kailanman naospital. Who would have thought you will be hospitalized the moment you arrived in the Philippines not because of gun shots but because of overfatigue?" the old man laughed out loud. Hindi maipagkakaila na sa kabila ng tikas ng tindig at alertong mga mata'y mababakas ang mga pinong laugh lines at puting buhok.
"Ninong Carlos naman eh!" I bursted out pouting. Si ninong talaga... Pakiramdam ko ay namumula ng husto ang mukha ko. This is why I don't want the Guardians to know. Lahat yata sa amin alaskador.
"My, my, my. One of my mightiest agents fainted, I don't see anything wrong with that anyway. Hahaha," he continued to tease me. Maya-maya'y bigla itong nagseryoso at tinitigan ako ng matiim.
"Thank you Katherine. You saved my son. I owe you one." He patted my head.
"Ninong alam mong hindi ko siya magagawang pabayaan. Why didn't you inform me he was coming back today anyway?,"napabuntong hininga na lamang ako kasabay ng pag-iling.
"I didn't know! Nagulat na lamang din ako nang tinawagan ako ni papa na nakauwi na ang paborito niyang apo at didiretso daw ito sa bahay mo. Hindi rin nagreport sa akin ang mga bodyguards nila, tsk," paliwanag naman ng matanda.
"Argh! I should have known it the moment I bumped into lolo Ben at the airport. But what if I wasn't there??! Claus knows very well that there are a lot of people who wants him dead!" I exclaimed, not able to control my frustration.
"I know hija. I am so sorry for Matthew's carelessness. Kaya naman nang malaman ko'y pinapunta ko agad si Vaughnn sa inyo," sabay sulyap kay Pharaoah na ngayon ay nakasandal na sa may pintuan ng hospital suite ko.
