Katherine's POV
Gabi na nang matapos ang pag-uusap namin ni Dr. Sandoval. Hindi ko maipaliwanag ang magaan na pakiramdam matapos kong maikuwento sa kanya ang buhay ko. She has that serene aura na para bang hinihikayat kang sabihin sa kanya ang mga hinanakit mo at umiyak, which I did.
"Maraming salamat po doc. Pasensiya na po kung masyado po tayong natagalan. Hindi ko na po kasi napigilan," paumanhin ko.
"Hija, I already told you to call me tita Hail. And please, I am glad to be of help. Congratulations on your first step hija," nakangiting sabi nito na nagpasinghap sa akin.
"D-doc, a-ano po ulit ang buo ninyong pangalan?" kinakabahang tanong ko.
"Huh? Ahm. Hail Sandoval, yun na talaga ang buong pangalan ko," nagtatakang sagot nito.
Nagkatinginan kami ni Pharoah at nakita ko sa mga mata niya na pareho kami ng hinala. Fool me, I haven't noticed it earlier. Those eyes, that smile, the surname. At ang first name niyang Hail, frozen raindrops. Another person who congratulated me earlier flashed on my mind at hindi ko napigilang yakapin ang nakatatandang doktor.
"Hija?" Takang anito.
"I'm sorry Doc. I just really wanna thank you po."
"Walang anuman hija, I love helping people overcome their fears," nakangiting sabi nito.
"Your son must be proud of you, or your daughter" I said nonchalantly.
Lumungkot nang bahagya ang mukha nito bago ako tipid na nginitian.
"I guess I wouldn't know that. I lost him when he was fourteen years old. If only he is alive, he would be about his age," banayad na sabi nito bago tinignan si Pharoah.
I felt my heartbeat get quicker but I composed myself.
"I'm sorry Doc. What happened to him?"
"He got lost in the woods during winter when we were still in the states. His father looked for him but he almost died, and to no avail," malungkot na pag-alala nito.
"Your husband is alive?!" Bulalas ko na ipinagtaka niya.
I cleared my throat as I felt Pharoah held my hand.
"I-I mean, b-buti po buhay siyang nakabalik," bawi ko.
"I'm sorry but have to go Dr. Sandoval," pag-iiba ni Pharoah sa usapan.
"Oh yes, it's late, go ahead. I'll see you next week hmm?" Nakangiting paalam ng doktora.
We sat in the car for a while before I broke the silence.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Basag ko sa katahimikan.
"We found her. We found Arthur's mother..."
Tahimik na kaming bumiyahe pabalik sa headquarters. Both are occupied with our own thoughts. Mabilis na nakarating kami sa Guardians' Head Quarters.
"I bet you're hungry. Shall we eat?" sabi nito habang inaalalayan ako pababa ng kotse.
"Later. I want to talk to Mariz about kuya Arthur's family. We have to be sure about it. You should go and talk to him also," sagot ko.
"Yeah. I guess so. The sooner he knew, the better. Let's see each other at Ricardo's then?"
"Sure. See you later okay," nakangiting paalam ko rito bago tinungo ang command center.
Naabutan ko roon si Mariz at ang iba pang guides na tutok na tutok sa kanya kanyang gawain. Nilapitan ko ang chief ng Intelligence department at tinapik. Matagal ako nitong tinitigan bago makilala.
