LMKM 9 - TOTGA vs. The One Who Stood By Me

Paulit-ulit kong tinatanong ang sarli ko kung tama ba ang ginawa ko. Sa hitsura ni Queen kanina ay alam kong nagulat siya ng husto.

"May araw pa, naglalasing ka na?"

Nilingon ko si Arthur na umupo sa katabi kong stool. Nandito kami sa bar sa loob ng headquarters. Ipinadagdag ito ni Captain Zeus para daw hindi mainip ang mga Guardians na nakatira sa mismong subdivision, hence the name Zeus' Bar and Grill.

Hindi pa bukas ang bar sa oras na ito pero mukhang may event mamayang gabi at naghahanda sila.

"Isang baso lang bro, pampatulog lang."

Tinaasan ako ng kilay ni Arthur bago umorder ng whiskey sa bartender na isa ring level 1 agent o newbie kung tawagin.

"Kakagising mo lang halos, wala pang alas diyes ng umaga gusto mo na namang matulog?"

"I haven't slept well last night," I answered absentmindedly.

"Katherine?"

Hindi ako nagsalita. Sinimsim ko ang Scotch na hawak ko. Tinignan ko siya nang ibaba ko ang walang lamang baso.

"I told her I love her. Just this morning."

"I see. About time bro," tumatangong sagot nito.

"What?"

"I know this would happen from that moment we saw her cry five years ago. Para kang time bomb, hinihintay ko lang na sumabog ka," he looked at me with a blank face but the glint in his eyes tells me he's actually mocking me.

"Bro, she's in love with somebody else," sagot ko na may mapait na ngiti. "Aldrin, isa pang scotch please."

"Is she? Have you asked her if she still love that guy who got away?"

"She doesn't need to. I can feel it."

"There are times that we choose not to hope for beautiful things to happen because we are afraid it is too good to be real," matalinghagang sabi ni Arthur.

"I know what you mean Arthur. Believe me, I want to have hope. But everytime I see her crying because of him, even the smallest hint of hope dies."

"You seem too focused on the possibility that she still loves him that you keep on ignoring the signs that she's falling for you who stood by her until now."

"Don't give me false hopes Arthur."

"Think of it bro. Would she let you get so close to her if you don't stand a chance? Have you ever thought that she was waiting for you to confess all along?"

"Arthur pare, ngayon ka lang yata naging madaldal. Tsk. nagpunta ako rito para matanggal siya sa isip ko kahit sandali lang. I appreciate your words of wisdom pero hindi ganoon kadali paniwalaan yun."

Naramdaman kong may tumapik sa balikat ko bago umupo sa kaliwang stool na katabi ko.

"Masyado mong pinapakomplikado ang sitwasyon pare. Wala kang bilib sa sarili mo at wala ka ring tiwala kay Katherine," umiiling na sabi ni Skater bago tinungga ang scotch na hindi ko pa nagagalaw.
