Arzaya

"Arzaya!" Eric called from the hallways.

I looked at him in response. "Hey."

Eric had a satisfied grin in his face. "The school newspaper was printed today. Nice job on the feature!"

"I tried," I said, chuckling. Special thanks to Ben for being such a fun guy to interview.

"Well, guess what?" Eric asked, looking at me with cheerful eyes from behind his glasses. "Since you seemed to perform better on a sports feature comparing to your other articles, from now on I'm appointing you to cover exclusively for the basketball team."

WHAT?

"Eric, I don't think—"

The bell suddenly rang.

"See ya later, Arzaya!" he said, walking away. "Keep up the good work!"

I sighed. I was going to be some kind of a reporter for the team—the group of guys which I actually loathe.

But then again, other girls in this school would kill to be in my spot so I was in no position to complain. Maybe I just have to be professional with this whole thing. Besides, Ben will be there. I don't know but the thought of him made me smile. He was very dreamy.

Shay had me trapped before homeroom period after she told me all the gossips about her and Klay. Apparently, she felt so regretful of having to embarrass him in front of his friends for showing them how Klay was under her.

Their relationship was actually cute. Instead of Shay having to be the submissive one, it was Klay. He would just shít his pants whenever Shay was angry.

So by the time I reached my first class, I was late. Well, not exactly late, but since my classmates got in before me then I consider it being late. I was usually the first person to get in.

"Class, I want your essays on my table now," I heard Mr. Corey say just as I entered the classroom.

My other classmates approached his table to submit their works and I also laid my paper on top of it.

I wasn't able to finish it by Saturday because I worked on the article; the new rooks were really fun to interview, especially Ben, so I didn't have a hard time working on it. But I did last minute revisions last night on the essay alone, and it was okay, because it was better that way.

I headed to my seat, passing Wardell who abruptly glanced at me with a straight face. He didn't have his snapback on and I guessed Corey must have asked him to take it off in class. He was playing with his pen, sitting slouched and looking really bored, but he didn't bother greeting me so I ignored him too. It was a surprise to see that he was early for class, though.

Once I had my ass on the chair, I grabbed my organizer and checked one of my to-do list.

Romeo and Juliet essay: ✔️

So then, Mr. Corey told the class that he wouldn't be lecturing for today because he would be reading our essays for the whole period. Instead, he asked us to read an excerpt on Oedipus The King. None of the class did, though. They just went and chattered with their friends, completely burning the clock.
