Stephen"Maaan," Klay whined, seating beside me as we ate lunch. I was just tryna eat my mac & cheese peacefully, but suddenly Jon B comes in whining like a kid. "Normally, I'm not a dramatic type of person but..."
"It's the last day of school," I confirmed.
He agreed and murdered his food with a fork. "Bro, I've been thinking last night. I thought it'd be fine and all, but the idea of living far from you guys is making me go nuts."
I grinned, seeing him sulk right now. It was unusual. Most of the freshman, sophomores, and the juniors were really itching to hear the "last bell" and officially consider themselves off for summer. Meanwhile, us seniors looked rather melodramatic in our own way. Some were excited since we'll be in college, but some we're really sad they'd be leaving soon.
I couldn't even tell how I felt right now. The feels weren't coming yet, but I was sure it'd pay me a visit later.
"Are you really off to Washington State?" I asked.
He nodded. "Yeah, man. It's a sure deal. I'm gonna sign my contract by September."
"How about Shay?"
"She's coming with me," he said, grinning triumphantly as if it had been a long argument between the two. "Ain't no way I'm gonna deal with LDR. Besides, WSU cheer department seems to take an interest on her."
I placed a spoonful of mac & cheese in my mouth while I nodded my head. "That's cool, man. Both of you will do good."
"We're gonna miss you, though. You know you my best friend, even though you ditch me a lot for Dray."
I let out a soft chuckle. "You'll always be my number one bro."
"Aye." He smiled, offering a fist bump. He glanced at my head carefully. "How's the head?"
"Which one?"
He grimaced. "Bro."
I guffawed. "I'm okay, jeez. It's been five days. You must think I'm weak. You think I wouldn't have healed quickly from a mild concussion?"
He looked at me confused. "Then why does Arzaya still—"
"Heeeeey," a familiar voice singsonged and I immediately knew who it was.
I quickly touched my temple and winced from the pain. "Ow! My head hurts so bad. Oh, man. What should I do?"
"Wardell!" Zay quickly slid beside me and began petting my face. "Baby, I told you not to stress yourself too much."
She's so cute.
Klay stared at me in amusement and I winked at him discreetly. He then shook his head in humor.
"Don't be a baby, Steph. You not LeBron," Shay told me as she sat next to her boyfriend. "I know you're just pretending so Arzaya could nurse you."
Damn.
Zay quickly moved away and punched my arm. "I should have beat you when I had the opportunity."
