"Mom," I whined. "Can we stop taking pictures? Commencement hasn't even started yet."
She simply ignored my cries and carried on, urging us to take one more shot.
"Daaad." I turned to my father who only gave me a shrug. There was really nothing he can do.
So I unhappily posed for one more pic before Stephen and the Curry family came.
I smiled from ear-to-ear when I saw him wearing the same royal blue toga as he approached me.
"My handsome son-in-law!" My mom cooed, embracing my boyfriend like her own child.
"Hi, Mrs. Austin," he said with a soft chuckle, then he looked at my dad. "Hi, sir."
Sonya and Dell came as well, greeting my parents and then complimenting me.
"Congrats on getting to Stanford!" Sonya told me cheerfully.
I beamed. "Thank you so much."
"She's a steal, huh?" Steph said playfully to his mom. "That's my girl."
"Yes and you're lucky she took you back so you better fix yourself from now on, young man," Sonya replied rather seriously.
I chuckled in response seeing as it wasn't what he expected to hear.
"Is this a graduation or a wedding?"
Steph and I both turned to see Shay grinning at us teasingly while she stood beside Klay.
"Hey!" I immediately embraced my best friend like it was the last time I would.
Meanwhile, Steph and Klay hugged each other and did their bro fist or whatever they call it. Klay looked like he was in a really good mood today.
"Okay, the four of you!" My mom excitedly called us. "Pose together. Let me take a shot."
So then I stood beside Stephen while Shay stood between me and Klay as we smiled towards the camera.
The shutter came off just as they announced for the students to gather as the commencement was about to begin.
"Aight, it's about to begin," Steph spoke, ushering us the way to the school hall. "Let's go."
