Arzaya

While I organized my things inside the locker, I looked at the hallway for the fifth time. I tried searching through the faces of students but I couldn't seem to find the boy with the snapback.

"—so then I told him no, but he was like why are you being like this—Arzaya! Are you even listening to me?"

I snapped out of trance and looked back at Shay. "Sorry, what was it?"

"Who the hell are you looking for?" she questioned irritably.

"Huh?" I laughed awkwardly. "No one."

"Why do I feel like you're hiding something from me?" Shay teased just as I closed my locker.

Gladly, I was once again saved by the bell. Everyone rushed to their assigned classes and parted ways with their friends.

Shay and I walked along the busy hallway and I stopped at my room. "I'll see you by lunch!"

"Alrighty!" she yelled back before I made it to the door.

Once I got inside, I quickly sauntered towards the middle row and Mr. Corey came just as I settled on my seat.

"Good morning, class! How was your weekend?" the old man happily asked, placing his iPad and tumbler on the table.

"It was lit!" A guy from the back remarked.

I snuck my phone under my desk to check for new messages but I found none.

Although as I looked up, Stephen was already coming in class and it made me smile.

"Mr. Curry, you seem to be in a light mood," Mr. Corey noted, peering at him behind his wide glasses.

"What can I say, literature is favorite subject," he replied, sitting down at his usual spot in front of me.

I playfully rolled my eyes and leaned back at my seat.

Wardell did, too. In fact, he leaned back too much that he was slouching. He sat low and almost rested the back of his head on my table.

"What are you doing?" I whispered, hoping the class wasn't paying attention. Fortunately, they weren't. "Sit properly!"

He smiled cheekily. "Nice to see you, too."

I chuckled and put my hands on his face to kiss him in the forehead upside down.

"D, you gotta see this," Devin told D'Angelo, holding his phone to watch a snap. "Shít's funny!"

They were really entertained and their laugh was so contagious that it had me laughing too. I walked forward on the queue and held my tray as I reached the counter.

"Damn, I miss snapchat," I heard D'Angelo say.

"Why did you delete yours, anyway?" I asked, looking back at them.

D'Angelo merely shrugged. "Trust me, Snapchat made my life worse."

Devin was grinning at some inside joke but I decided not to ask about it.
