"It's FRIDAY!"

I jumped out of my seat, nearly dropping the newspapers I was holding.

Shay grinned ecstatically and barged inside the journalism room. Good thing Eric was out so I was left with Mikayla and she didn't seem to mind having Shay around.

"It's Friday!" My best friend repeated as if I was deaf. "Do you know what that means?"

"Shay," I groaned.

"It's game day!" she almost yelled. I looked at Mikayla apologetically and she just laughed it off.

So I looked back at Shay. "I think everyone knows."

"Yeah, but it's more exciting because if the boys win this, they're going to be a championship contender!" She was squealing in excitement and I don't know if it's because Klay's in the team or that she's just really proud of the boys.

"The game won't be until 4. Are they even getting ready?" I asked.

Shay was appreciating herself at a reflective glass wall. "Not yet but they're probably on the way to the gym to warm up."

Suddenly, I remembered that she used to be a cheerleader that's why she knew the game scheduling and all that.

"Do you miss being in the cheerleading team?" I asked as I went back to assembling the newspapers by date.

"No," she answered firmly. "The only thing I miss is snatching Holly's weave. Other than that, I'm good."

What a thug she is.

"I'm glad she's silent now," I added. Memories of the big drama with Holly came flying back on my thoughts and I realized how much better things had become.

"She's irrelevant now, anyways." Shay made a face, heading towards the door. "I'm gonna watch them warm-up. Won't you come?"

I was about to but then I looked at the stacks of responsibilities I still ought to finish. "Nah, I'll meet you there when I'm done with everything."

At around 3:20pm I got to finish my duty and so I rushed quickly at the now-empty hallways and headed for my locker.

As soon as I reached my locker, I noticed that the new girl was occupying what used to be Alexa Lee's locker. There was only one locker separation from mine. She didn't notice me quick because she was on her phone with a smile on her face.

I put all that I could inside my locker and got what I had to bring home. Then the new girl finally looked up and noticed me. She smiled warmly.

"Hey," she greeted.

I returned a small smile. "You watching the game?"

"You mean the basketball game?" she clarified, smiling as she thought about it. "I was asked to by someone."

"Ooh," I teased, closing my locker door just as she did. "Well, it's nice to hear you're making friends. How are you finding the school so far?"
