"Happy birthday, Shay!" I greeted, hugging her tight.

She pulled away, smiling in her elegant pink dress. "You look good. I'm proud!"

I chuckled. "Thanks, Shay." I was wearing a black oversized band shirt and some thick chokers and then I had my hair on a half bun because it was really trendy right now.

I handed her my gift and she took it in gratitude. "What's this?"

"Something you'll love," I told her. "I saved up for that, okay?"

People have already arrived and it wasn't really as wild as the last one, but I could tell that in a few hours, it would be.

Shay had always been really sociable compared to me so it wasn't surprising that she invited almost everyone. I guess part of that reason was because of Klay whose popularity gained her new people to meet.

She was quite rich too because her parents were lawyers and they were currently in Vegas for a business trip but Shay told me they'd be coming home tomorrow.

But for tonight, the house was ours to enjoy.

My ears caught the familiar song playing, For Free by DJ Khaled, as the volume was turned up.

Fúck for free, I know you workin' day and night to get a college degree

Wardell would have hyped. Especially if he heard that verse from Drake.

"Girl, you need to drink tonight," Shay told me and I immediately shook my head.

"I can't, Shay. You know what happened last time," I said, chuckling.

She suddenly smirked. "Yeah, it went pretty well for you. Didn't it?"

Of course. It was the night Stephen admitted his feelings for me and I just threw it to waste.

And speaking of, he appeared behind me, going to Shay for a hug. I was too stunned to react.

"Happy birthday, Shay!" Steph embraced her quick.

"Thanks, Chef," she said with a grin.

I got a whiff of his strong scent and he looked really good in his grey shirt, black jogger pants, and that red snapback.

He never acknowledged my presence and acted like I wasn't there and I was so hurt. He was really treating me a total stranger now.

"You seen Klay and Dray?" he asked.

Shay awkwardly shifted her eyes to me then back at him. "They're over at the poolside."

"I'll go see them," he said to her, patting her arm before leaving us both.

I felt like someone dug a hole on my chest when Shay looked at me in pity.

"What drink you got?" I asked, forcing a smile as I changed the topic.

Shay smirked. "I thought you won't drink?"
