"Are you okay?" Stephen asked as he turned the steering wheel.
I stayed sitting in his passenger seat, leaning my head on the window, staring blankly at the view.
"Yeah," I answered softly. "Just a lil' cold."
I could sense him looking briefly at me before reaching at the backseat. Soon enough, he was taking out a black bomber jacket, quickly handing it to me.
"You can wear that," he offered. "You stay wearing all these thin damn clothes nowadays when I always tell you to cover up."
Ugh, here we go again.
"I told you, I'm trying to look good for you," I said, pulling in his jacket to keep me warm. I was tired of this conversation. He just doesn't understand the little things I try to do to make him happy.
He scrunched his eyebrows, staring at the road. "For me? But other niggas sure be enjoying how you look, don't you realize?"
Is he deadass— "Who says I give a fuck about other boys?"
"Look, I'm just saying," he reasoned. "You don't have to level yourself like Holly or some girl I used to be with. I liked you when you were simple, so stay like that."
"Whatever. Fine." I rolled my eyes.
In after 5 more minutes, we finally reached the school and I definitely did not miss it. Nope. Well, except maybe the people.
Steph took my hand and intertwined it in his as we walked through the hallways. People have gotten used to us as a couple so the attention wasn't really as big as it used to be anymore. And somehow, I liked that. I liked that we were becoming lowkey.
Walking through the hall was like being dragged to hell. It reminded of the first day because I see people reuniting with their friends and whatnot.
Then, there were our friends.
Last time I remember, it was not exactly a happy separation with them. The camping trip was really enjoying and we had so much memories and laughs together. I don't know how we ended up having these petty arguments which led Klay to drag our asses back home.
But everything's cool, though. We were nice enough to greet each other on Christmas day and I do missed this gang a whole lot.
"Oh, look at her!" I heard the familiar voice behind me and saw D'Angelo. "You pullin' off the oversized jacket thing now?"
"It's Stephen's," I told him, grinning. I acknowledged Devin who stood beside him while both guys shared some bro-fist with my boyfriend.
"How y'all been?" Steph asked the duo.
"We been fine," Devin answered.
Steph looked behind them. "Where's Ben at?"
I almost chuckled at the boys' response. Their eyes almost widened in shock, unable to believe that Stephen, of all people, would ask about Ben.
"Y'all brodies now?" D'Angelo teased.
"I heard he's with some girl now so I'm good," he said, causing me to look at him.
