It Feels Right

CHAPTER EIGHT

  Kyle..

 I could tell he's crying because his voice is shaky. After about ten minutes of asking what was wrong, he finally said that Papaw had passed away. After he said that to me, I immediately dropped to the floor and cried. I was furious, upset, confused etc. Something in me got me up and I threw my phone at the wall as hard as I could. Ethan ran over to me wondering what was happening. He quickly caught me before I fell again. We walked over to the couch so I could sit on something more comfortable. He didn't waste any time before wrapping me in his arms trying to get me to settle down. That just made me cry even harder and louder. My dad had no idea what was going on. He rushed out of his office into the living room finding me basically bawling into Ethan's chest. He politely told Ethan to let me go that way he could hold me instead. Once he sat down, he asked Ethan if he could go get a glass of cold water for me. While Ethan was getting the water, my dad asked what happened, but before I could even tell him, his phone rang and it was Kyle. Of course he put it on speaker, "What happened to Kolby? Where is she? Is she okay?"

"Yes son, she's with me." He motioned for Ethan to come over to me so that he could talk to Kyle in private. Ethan got to me, and soon just held me while I was holding the glass of water, slowly sipping it. Dad was in the other room talking to Kyle, "She's fine, or she will be. Ethan is with her right now, so tell me what's going on."

"Papaw passed away while I was on my way to his house to pick up Kylie, Kens and Grayson. Kylie called me while I was on the road. When I picked up and she was sobbing trying to explain what happened. She said that she called you, but she hung up because you and I would be rushing over here together I guess? I got to the house and your officer friend was there since Kens knew his number. He talked to the EMS and they just pulled in. His body is out of the house and we're about to head home right now. Kensleigh doesn't even care, I mean she probably does, but she's hiding it. Kylie is a wreck and I got myself together to drive."

"Alright son. I'm going to keep a close eye on Kolby, so she doesn't do anything, ya know?"

"Yeah I know what you mean, dad. We should be home in 15."

"Okay. Be safe. Love you. Bye."
