It Feels Right

Being in Ethan's arms was one of the greatest feelings. I guess it was so great that I dozed off into a nice sleep because Ethan had to wake me up once we got to the studio.

 There was no way that I was prepared for this. I tried stalling, but Ethan literally picked me up and took me in. We get to the lobby where we see Kylie and Hayes, "Kolby you made it! Why was Ethan carrying you? Were you sleeping?"

"Mhm, mhm, and mhm." I nodded my head, leaning on Ethan.

"Are you ready to meet Shawn?" 

"Yeah, I guess so. I hope I don't have to sing." I straightened myself 

"Yeah about that.." Kylie had a hard time telling me the whole story. "I told him you would sing, but I would sing with you so you won't be alone."

"KyLiEEE. Are you serious?! NO no no. I'm leaving, I can't do this." starting to walk away, but Ethan was too quick and caught my arm bringing me back. 

"Kolby please. Quit being dramatic."

"I'm not being dramatic. I'm so nervous right now, you have no idea." Ethan hugged my side. I turn my body into his, bury my face into his chest, and his grip just gets tighter. "It'll be okay Kolby. You can do this."

"Kylie, you better sing with me." I mumbled in his chest.

"I wiiillllll. Let's go pleaseeee" she took my arm and started to tug me to go. Ethan's grip gets loose from me, but never once did he let go of my hand. I guess I was squeezing his hand a little too hard because he had to wiggle his fingers out of mine. 

It was so beautiful in this building. Each door had the name of the artist that records in there for their own recording studio. There was Ariana Grande, Austin Mahone, Justin Bieber etc. Then we reached Shawn's studio. Hayes leads us into the room since he knows Shawn personally thanks to Magcon. "Hey guys." he seemed so chill about it. Nash and Cam just look and smile at us, but then Shawn turns around and stands up, "Ethan? Dude, it's been a long time, man! How are you doing?"

"Pretty good man! It's nice to see you again." he and Shawn bro hug. "Hey, I would like you to meet Kolby."

"Kolby, yes. I have heard a lot about you. Kylie says that you sing and play?"

"Uh, yeah a little bit." I basically stuttered that whole sentence.

"Kylie says that you guys will be singing?"

"Rumor has it I guess. Do you have a uk?"

"Yes I do." he retrieves the ukulele for me, "Here you go. Play your heart out."

"Thank you. Ky, One Day." she nods and stands next to me. I start to play the uk, and Kylie starts to sing. I've never sang in front of anyone like Ethan or Shawn. It scared me at first, then I started think of Papaw, then it started to get easier. We were harmonizing perfectly and the ukulele sounded perfect. I didn't make any eye contact with anyone otherwise I would have messed up. My eyes were either on the floor, the uke or Kylie. 

Towards the end of the song I felt a warm presence through my body. My throat started getting tense, but I just focused on playing and let Kylie finish the song. Once we were done, I had to excuse myself. I just needed some water. Luckily there was a drinking fountain not far from the studio. My heart was beating fast and my legs were right along with it.

"Kolby, you okay?" Kylie was running after me.

"What?" I couldn't believe where I was. Everything was so surreal, "Yeah, I'm good I just needed some water."

"You made it through the song. That was probably one of the best runs we've had of that."

"During the song, I felt a warm presence go through me. I immediately thought about Papaw and then I was reminded that he's never coming back. I'm surprised that I didn't start crying, but I'm glad I didn't. That's why I couldn't help finish the song, I'm sorry." 

"It's totally alright. I knew what was going on when you stopped."

"It just sucks, ya know? That was his song. It's so different without him."

"Ain't that the truth. I wasn't as close to him as y'all were, but I was still kind of close. We had a healthy relationship and we bonded like no other. Just last night, I called his phone just so I could listen to his voice one more time. I finally just broke down and let everything out. Skylynn ran to get Hayes so he could calm me down. It's really hard and I totally understand. But then you have that whole Addy crap going on. I still can't believe she did that to you-"

"And we don't talk about it anymore, please."

"I'm sorry." she looked down

"I think we should head back before we get lost in conversation and they start worrying." I laughed.

"Good idea." there was a good chunk of silence between us until Kylie opened her mouth again, "Thank you for making today happen. I know it was out of your comfort zone, but I'm glad you did it."

"Hey, anything for my baby sis. Now that I look back, I'm glad I did it too. Thanks for talking me into it."

"We both know it wasn't just me who talked you into it." she winked at me knowing I hate it.

"Yeah, yeah. I know." We both giggled. It wasn't too long until we got back to the studio. When we walked into the room the boys were laughing and carrying on about their business. Kylie nor myself spoke up. We wanted to see if the boys noticed we were there. Of course Hayes noticed, why wouldn't he? Kylie was too beautiful to miss. I envied her for her beauty.

"Oh hey, you're back. Are you okay?" Shawn seemed concerned.

"Yeah I'm good. I've never sang in front of an actual singer before and my throat got a little dry so I got some water." I giggled.

"Well you did great. Both of you did." I could feel Shawn getting a little flirty, so I went to sit down next Ethan. Ethan grabbed my waist pulling me closer to him knowing what I was feeling. He didn't need me to tell him, the look on my face was enough for him to know. Nash finally decided to speak up, "Well, it was nice to hang out with you man, but you got work to do so we'll get out of your hair." he motions for Cam and Hayes to get up. "Yeah. Besides, their dad is probably wondering where they are at since he would like lunch with them." Hayes stated.

"Oh shoot, I completely forgot about that." my memory was at a loss.

"It was nice to meet you, Kylie and Kolby. Thank you for sharing your talent with me. Hopefully I'll be able to get the two of you on stage with me sometime." he hugged both of us and bro hugged the guys. Slowly but surely we all got out of there. I was finally able to catch my breath when we got outside.
