Eirian's story had been enticing and I was absorbing every word, hungry to know the truth.
"My father... our father I mean-" She looked guilty. "-has a position in our community; a high position."
I furrowed my brows, not understanding what she meant. "And that's what killed you?" I enquired before realization hit me. "You were killed by the ones that were after your father's position."
"Our father." Eirian smiled.
Things were swirling in my mind; this held too much contents for me to get a good grip of. "I'm still not following why they wanted you dead."
"I was next in line to the throne."
My eyes flickered once again towards the guys in our company; the princes. "A lot is about ruling here, isn't it?" My tone was as sarcastic as I intended it to be.
"You're my younger sister." That statement snapped my attention back to Eirian. "That's the reason you were send away," she commented the obvious. "If your compulsion hadn't held on this long, they might have found you and gone after you."
"Why?"
"So you wouldn't reach father's position."
Every answer seemed to envoke more questions. "And what position will that be?"
A smile widened on her face. "It has been filled, so I guess that you're off the hitlist."
Even if it was a relief, she still hadn't answered the question. "So... you were killed and I was placed in a holding realm. I suppose it is a prominent position."
"He's the ruler of the nine realms."
"I knew I had heard that name before!" Quin hissed and my attention was divided between the blokes and my own conflicting thoughts. "Elendriel; the great King."
"Gods!" Ty exclaimed in awe.
Neither of them had full information regarding this man. I wasn't aware of my mouth opening and closing, but there was so much to say and I had no way of knowing where to start. "The Great King?"
"Well... he has his bad sides as well." Eirian snickered delighted. "But he has an important job."
I inhaled to say something, but it slipped away from me again and I ended up sitting there with my mouth open. After what might have been called an eternity of silence I decided where to start my questioning. "Nine realms?"
Ty and Quin had walked up to us and sat now on each side of us on the log we occupied. "Haven't your mother told you about the mythology?"
I took a deep breath to say something but ended up exhaling all the air again. "Yes, but..."
"But you didn't expect finding yourself in it?" Ty deduced and hit the nail to the point. "The human realm is one of them, you knew that, didn't you?"
After another deep inhale I started. "Humans aren't that well versed with realms. They are more interested in countries and who is ruling them."
A short chuckle indicated that they were aware of that fact.
"There aren't many humans who still believe in the myths."
"And who do you think is responsible for that?"
