We were squatting next to the iridescent water and I was doing my best to focus on my task instead of peaking at the handsome reflections next to mine. Usually my doppelganger was the one contacting me; or rather scaring me. I had a clear disadvantage on her. My mother had spoken about Eirian; in the memory of childhood it had seemed naturally, but had faded away over my human years. This Eirian was apparently very real now and here and I thought of her name again.

The swaying image in the water gradually changed into a smiling one and my heart leaped again. "Eirian?" I uttered the unnecessary question. "I need your help."

Slowly she emerged from the reflective water as if it had been that vicious siren that came for Charles. I had already forgotten her name. The silvery water seemed to slowly drip away from her dress, leaving a glow to it.

Eirian stood in front of us, shimmering with an auralike light shining around her. Apart from that glowing shimmer she was the spitting image of me and it was unreal to look at her. I didn't know what to say or what to do.

How do you greet a Goddess?

"Marciana Eleonora?" The bright radiant woman enquired with her eyes firmly on me. "You're her daughter, aren't you?"

"Yes... your highness...?"

The one standing in front of me laughed and it felt like crystaldrops tinkling around us. "My name is Eirian and that will do just fine Francine."

I exhaled relieved. "Thank you, that feels much easier."

"Hello boys." She smiled suggestively at the men who flanked me.

"My Goddess." They both bent into sweeping formal low bows.

"Come on boys, none of that now," she snickered flirtatiously and I felt an irrational anger build up inside me.

"Do you know each other?"

All three turned towards me and the two male looked a tad apologetic while the girl smiled wide. "Did you forget to tell her?" She slid an arm around each of their waists. "Oh, they fought like cats and dogs over me when we were young."

Realisation hit me like a bucket of cold water. "You were the one they met in camp?"

"You've heard about it?" she exclaimed enthusiastic while the men nodded with an embarrassed look. Her hand went up to her mouth and she giggled.

I pursed my lips, giving them a sour look. "You could have told me we were to meet your ex."

Eirian laughed excited again. She had a childlike naivity about her that made you ponder wheither you would be surprised if she started to jump up and down while clapping her hands. In a way it was contageous. "Young love is seldom forgotten." She peeked up first at one of the boys and then the other, from under her lashes. "Even if it's long ago."

I suddenly felt like a bystander; a peeping Tom in some way and wondered if I perhaps should leave them alone. Realisation hit me that I was a spitting image of their first love and the attraction they might have felt wasn't necessarily towards me but her. There was a knot forming in my stomach at that.

Then I remembered that we had summoned Eirian for my sake; not theirs. It was my past we were here to discuss. "If we put the half-a-millennium romance to the side for just a moment, perhaps you'd be able to help me understand a few things?" Even I could hear the distant tone in my voice.

Eirian untangled herself from Ty and Quin before she took the few steps to me and slid an arm around my shoulder. "I was just about to ask why you summoned me?"
