After the introduction at court, my life changed. Suddenly I was assigned bodyguards who followed me whenever I left the mansion. I felt guarded instead of safe.

I struggled to find a place and purpose in this machinery that was the court. Nobody spoke of what Cinderella did after she married the prince. Not that I had married Ty, but you get the idea; I needed something to do.

It took me a week or two to find opportunity to sneek away from the guard and walk the way to Sorcha's house.

She was at least glad to see me. "Glad to see an honest smile on your face," she added. "So how are you doing?"

"I'm fine."

"Hmm," she snorted. "Have you practiced?"

My mind flickered between defence classes and linguistics before I understood her question. "Oh, magic you mean? No, there haven't really been much opportunity." I deflected. "But we found out that I decend from a deity linage." My tone of voice ended in a question and Sorcha drew her brows together in puzzlement.

"Deity?"

"Yes, I apparently origin from Eir... a Godess."

"Ty could have told you that." She said abrupt. "Anyone who have ever met Eirian could have told you that."

I felt my mouth purse. "Yes, well..."

We held each others gaze for a while as I tried to wipe the displeased grimace off. "Do you want some tea?" she distracted us both with. "Then you can tell me about your new life."

I trotted after her into her homely kitchen and was struck with an array of emotions; this was where I had sat with Quin and her while I was in despair, searching for Ty. The need to get a firm hold of myself was overwhelming and I closed my eyes, thinking about that old verse that had helped me through the Dark forest last time.

"What are you doing?"

I flopped my eyes open and found Sorcha scrutinizing me surprised. "Oh, I just... never mind." I slumped down

"No, please tell me, you changed the energy in the entire house."

My mouth pursed as I nailed her through narrowed eyes, and then exhaled resigned. "It was just a verse my mother told me. I use it to calm myself down," I admitted with blushing cheeks.

"And you said you hadn't been practicing? That was some powerful stuff." She snickered and I fell into it. It felt good, I hadn't laughed in a long while.

"Yeah, well... I'm related to Goddesses and Gods," I shrugged in feign nonchalance, making us both laugh again.

"I suppose Royals are fiddlesticks..."

We both burst into laughter again and I was so grateful for the friendship we shared; it meant the world to me.

"What about Quin?" Sorcha asked.

I froze mid-action and the laughter stopped abrupt. "What do you mean?"

"What would he think of your life?"

"Of my life? He was the one who introduced me to the Queen for the first time. He would be proud of how I have shouldered this life, I think."

She pressed her lips together and nodded silently for a while. "I think he would want to see you happy."

More often, Ty was called away on formal assignments, and I found myself alone.
