*~YOUR POV~*
I yawned tiredly, rubbing my (e/c) eyes as I walked through Barnes & Noble. I wanted a job for the summer, and the simplest one seemed like reshelving books and helping out at this place. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't all that challenging.
It just got so boring after a while, especially since we were open so late.
I shelved in Moby Dick and sighed, scratching the back of my head with my free hand. It was 10 PM, most teens my age would be partying or out on the town.
I mean, I would probably be reading manga and/or sleeping, but you get the idea.
I pulled along a ladder to the romance section, shelving up some erotic novels that would make any middle age woman's day, curiously eyeing the Manga section from a few aisles down. I had been keeping my eye on a copy of L: Change the WorLd for the past couple of days. Death Note was a pretty good series, and I loved L as a detective...
"Hey, (y/n)!"
I nearly fell down the ladder, barely catching myself on the sides. I looked down and saw my fellow coworker and my first friend, Izumi, looking up at me. His dark brown hair flopped a little over his green eyes. He wore khaki pants and a teal sweater I narrowed my eyes at him.
"What? I didn't do anything." Izumi said.
"I nearly fell, dumbass!" I yelled in an angry whisper, coming down the ladder. He looked at the remaining books in my hand and scratched his head.
"Wow (y/n), I didn't think you were into that. The entire series of 50 Shades of Grey? I never would of thought of you like that." Izumi said. I looked at the books and dropped them, covering my mouth after I let out a small squeak of embarrassment.
"I-I was just reshelving them! They're a r-really big hit Izumi-kun!" I told him. He laughed and petted my head.
"The manager needs you down at the café. You need to restock the apples...some guy just came in and ordered like ten and bought out all the apple pies." Izumi said.
"Oh. I didn't mean to disturb you guys. I just really like apples. That's all."
We both turned and saw a boy with a black hoodie on and hair to match. His eyes were bright red and solemn. He wore sweatpants and Converses, a fresh apple in hand.
I knew him.
Izumi didn't."Hi (y/n)-chan. Who is your friend?" Kyren asked.
"K-Kyren? H-How did you know I was here?!" I asked, taking a few steps away from him.
"Well, your social media accounts aren't all that secure (y/n). You use the same password for everything. KawaiiPusheen1790." Kyren said. "But that isn't the important thing here. Look, I brought you an apple. Fuji, like the one we used to go buy at the market? Oh I'm sure you don't remember, seeing as you've got a new plaything to distract you." I stared at him for a minute then shook my head.
"I-If you want to get more a-apples, I'll get them..." I said, picking up the books from the ground. I put them on the ladder and headed for the cafe, leaving my coworker and my former best friend alone.
**KYREN'S POV**
So...this was the boy she had been posting about. Kuroki Izumi. 17. Met (y/n)-chan three months ago. Had a history of girlfriends. When my cute little (y/n)-chan left, I narrowed my eyes at him and his smile faded.
"Hey, what's your name again?" Izumi asked. "Kylo? Like that guy from Star W-"
"Shut up. I don't want to hear the sound of your voice. Just what are you doing with my (y/n)?" I demanded. I could hear the blood pumping in his body in my ears. He was getting nervous; I could hear it moving faster and faster. My fangs grew instinctively, and I licked my lips hungrily. I growled at him and he took a few steps back.
"You don't know (y/n) like I do, animal." I told him, stuffing my hands in my pockets.
"H-Hey! That was kind of uncalled for!" Izumi said. "Just who do you think you are?!" I quickly ran to him with speed he couldn't have possibly seen with his mortal eyes. I grabbed him by the neck and pinned him against the bookshelf, watching his eyes fill with horror.
"I think I asked you what you were doing with my (y/n). But you're just a useless little fleshbag, aren't you? You humans are only good for your blood most of the time." I told him angrily. I listened to him choke and gasp for air, smiling a little to myself. It was amusing how feeble humans were. I chuckled and exposed my fangs to him, covering his mouth before he could scream.
"I'm stuck this way forever. 18 forever, Izumi. You see, I used to babysit (y/n). She was so little back then, her tiny little hands used to hold my fingers as we walked through markets during the summer. I had to wear protective gear, like this hoodie and a parasol...but our little trips were always fun. But she grew up. They didn't need me anymore. So instead...I watched her from afar. Seeing at that same coffee shop every Saturday. Joining that anime club and dressing up like a maid~that was absolutely adorable. Then...the boys. They were just heartbreakers. Like a bunch of incubi wanting to feed on her innocence." I told him. "Boys like you, Kuroki Izumi, I picked off one by one, their bodies piling up like the garbage they are after I drained them dry. I want to make her just like me, this age forever. Our love will be eternal. All that's left in the way is you. So, Izumi, any last words before you join the abyss of filth?"
"Kyren? I restocked th-"
I quickly shifted my strangling position to a hug, smiling as (y/n) came around the corner. Of course, my fangs were hidden again.
"I'm so glad we became friends Izumi-kun." I said, faking happiness. "We should spend more time together." I looked into his eyes and flashed him a smile that made sure he knew not to utter a word about our conversation. I let go of him and looked over at (y/n).
"You have a very nice friend (y/n)-chan." I said happily. "And you've grown so well. It was nice seeing you again. I have a feeling it won't be the last time." I walked away, content with my work. I made my way back down to the cafe, seeing another associate reading a magazine. I easily snuck up behind him and covered his mouth firmly. I licked up his neck, feeling him shiver. My fangs came out again and I whispered softly in his ear.
"Die, pig."
After I was done, I let his corpse fall to the ground, watching the blood spill from out of him. I wiped the sweet liquid from my lips, sighing.
"Sorry about the mess." I said softly, moving toward the exit numbly.
