[AUTHOR'S INSERT]
I swear, I'm not dead...on the outside. On the inside, who's not dying these days? Anyway, I have to apologize with the seriously sporadic posting with this story. It's totally my fault, but I was busy with college shit, then there was writer's block, then more college shit (I keep typing colleg and I keep thinking of Temmie I'm fucking crying)...
ANYWAAYYYY I'm back for a bit while I can be and while I'm maintaining basic sanity, so stick around!
And while you wait for my dumb ass to update, read the Hawthorne Escapades! I also started writing a path for Mika, so glance through the table of contents to start reading her story.
...
(READER'S POV)
"Interesting choice. I hope you have plenty of time to fall in love with the stubborn jackass that's making my job twice as hard." Mika said, throwing her clipboard over her shoulder. "You don't think Demon Lords would be prudes, but such is motherfucking life I guess." I shook my head. I couldn't tell if she was just being passive aggressive or aggressive aggressive.
"You don't have something going on with a partner or something?" I asked curiously. "No sexual escapades, no romantic interests?" She shook her head, her body slowly becoming weightless as it floated in midair.
"I don't do the whole commitment thing. Not with these trust issues." Mika said, closing her eyes. "You don't have the powers I have and trust a lot of people. Not without dying."
"Are there other Oracles in Hell?" I asked. She laughed, floating over to me with her hands jammed into her hoodie pockets.
"Not voluntarily." She said abruptly. "That's what makes me valuable, among other things. I'm the only one that can't escape to another plane of existence." I blinked, confused. What was she talking about? I could understand the rage against Arran, but this was relatively new.
"I don't belong here. I don't belong in Heaven, or on Earth, I don't belong anywhere." Her eyes fell for a moment as she took a deep breath. Something was clearly bothering her.
"Enough of that." She said. "This isn't the timeline to learn about me...yet." She floated over to me and covered my eyes with her hand.
"Sleep."
...
"You're awake. What took you so long? Much of the day has passed."
I opened my eyes, finding myself in a room with black and red Victorian-style furniture. The combination reminded me of Mika's emo self, but I decided it was best not to mention his ex-employee right now. Of course it was Arran in the room; he was just finishing painting over my window to make sure no one could see in. Candles had already been lit around the room, providing the only real light. The whole place had changed since we came into it last night. I rubbed my eyes tiredly. How long had I been out?
"I don't know...heavy sleeper I guess." I said. "Where are we?"
"Home, for the rest of your natural life. However, I can cease that if need be." Arran told me. "I could make you a demon, just like me. Nonetheless, I'll treat you like my queen, because you are. If I can have you, I'd give up the world."
"I want to go home. My real home. Why are you trying to force me to love you?" I asked. He turned back at you, his eyes glowing for a moment before he closed them tightly.
"This is home now. My castle, my throne, my status...my who lifestyle. It's gone. In the midst of all of this loss...I've gained you. My entire kingdom...for a girl. Some would call me mad."
