"I..!...I-I..." I trailed off. I wanted to be confident in my answer to him. I wanted to be able to outright tell him that I loved Mika, but how could I say that without really getting to know her first? Who was I to barge into their life, Katsu knowing so much about her, and me knowing so little?

You! You're...taking time to answer. In a way, I can appreciate that in you, human. You're not just using her for the argument. I suppose you could be viler...but that doesn't change the fact that we are future rivals. I won't stop chasing after Mika. She will stop pursuing you one day mortal. When she does, I will be there. I suggest you not forget that.

Before I could say anything else, I was blinded by a bright light. The light finally faded, and I woke back up in my room, eyes darting around. I rubbed my head, groaning to myself.

"TOP OF THE MORNING TO YA LADDIES!"

I screamed, then immediately stopped upon realizing it was just Mika, kicking my door in so hard it fell on the ground. She was dressed in a Steven Universe shirt, ripped black jeans and black ankle boots. She stopped for a moment, looking at the forlorn door on the floor.

"I'll fix that later." She said offhandedly.

"MIKA!" I screamed.

"Oh hush, you were awake anyway. Come on, get up, we're going on an adventure." She said, coming to the side of my bed. "I had a bloody night, so let's do something fuuuun!" "Bloody"? What the hell was that supposed to mean? She probably just went on a hit...that's all.

"Hits get you this worked up?" I asked, finally getting up.

"It wasn't a hit. I get paid for hits. This one was a joy kill." Mika said, folding her arms. "The beginning of the end, if you would." I rubbed my eyes, finally getting a better look at her. She had a new piercing on her left eyebrow.

"Is...that a new piercing?" I asked.

"Nah. I just don't wear it as often as I should. The hole was closing up, so I put it back in." She said. "But we can talk later! LET'S GO ALREEEAAAADYYYY!"

Still tired and groggy from sleep, Mika opened the door for me to a small diner. It had a 50s theme, playing some old-fashioned music from a well-kept jukebox in the corner. It didn't look like much, but she seemed giddy enough about it, even behind the mask. I didn't have to see she was smiling; just the way her eyes lit up told me she was happy. No one was really here, and I only saw the cook behind a window to the kitchen.

"Dinah! Here kitty kitty!" She shouted out.

"Alright Mika, I should've known it was you."

An older woman dressed in a Grease-style came out of the kitchen, holding a tray with a freshly brewed pot of coffee, two mugs laid neatly next to it. A nameplate reading "Dinah" was evenly on her blouse. Mika took off her mask, beaming. Shockingly enough, Dinah didn't seem to care.

"Morning Kitty!" Mika said happily. Dinah looked her up and down, a small smile on her face.

"Well, you're in a chipper mood. What's gotten into you?" She asked.

"Um...'kitty'?" I asked, slightly confused. "And...how are you not freaking out right now."

"Dinah was Alice's cat in Alice in Wonderland. So I call her Kitty." Mika explained.

"And uses all the cat puns that she has in the book. But she's good for business; we let her keep the mask off when we're not in a rush. What I've seen kid, Mika's teeth don't exactly frighten me. I've seen some weird things in this town." Dinah agreed. "By the way Mika, your 'favorite uncle' was around here a little while ago." Mika frowned. She didn't have the best relationship with family in the first place; that reaction was expected.
