My eyes opened and I immediately shielded them from the setting sun. I had been waking up later and later; I guess the effects were finally kicking in. My first instinct was to crawl into a shadowed area of the room, slowly backing into a part where there wasn't a hole in the ceiling. I had fallen asleep by the fire last night.

"Well, it's also quite admirable, that he's keeping up his garden. Kyren did have a way with nature."

I nearly screamed, seeing Katsu casually leaned against the window, looking outside at the massive garden Kyren had created.

"Shouldn't you be hiding or something!" I whisper-yelled.

"You say that like I should be afraid of Kyren. Him and I were once very close friends." He said, reaching into his jacket. "I still pity him, truly."

"Yeah, 'were'! That means not anymore!" I said. "He could kill you!" Without warning, Katsu burst into a fit of laughter, barely holding himself together. My eyebrow twitched. That was the second time in a matter of days.

"(Name), you insult me. Did you think that Mika would partner with an amateur?" He asked. His laugh suddenly stopped as he pulled out a gun, firing it through the wall to his left. I heard a loud grunt and something fall to the floor with a thud. He casually put his gun away, going around the corner and dragging out Kyren, who had been shot in the shoulder.

"Damn it! What are you doing here Hideki?!" He cursed, holding his shoulder. The blood had begun to seep through his shirt. Why wasn't he healing?

"If that was on your mind, I would not have shot you. You were thinking about what my blood tasted like. If you plan on failing to kill me, try not to do it in front of (Name) Kyren." Katsu said. "I'm just here to visit." Kyren freed himself and plucked out the bullet, letting the wound begin to heal itself as he muttered something to himself.

"Yeah, and so was Mika last night. Both of you are up to something, and I don't trust either of you." Kyren said. His fangs were bared. So much for old friends.

"And we should all just trust that your healing is rapid just from your 'raw meat and vegetables diet'?, considering that I used a UV bullet?" Katsu pointed out. "If you didn't have fresh blood, that bullet wound would have taken at least the day to heal. So I will ask, kindly and simply: what have you been sinking your teeth into nowadays, besides her?" Kyren's eyes widened for a moment, his fists balling up.

"That's hardly any of your business." He said, walking over to me. "Why don't you tell me what the hell the both of you want with my (Name)?" Katsu rubbed his chin.

"How utterly possessive of you. Let me guess: blood bond? Kyren, you've only known the girl for three days." Katsu said.

"You and Mika have known each other for years and all you have is your 'friends with benefits' relationship going for you." Kyren sneered. "What (Name) and I have is real. What you and Mika have are games, lies, and deceit, just like your line of work." Katsu put his hands in his pockets, shaking his head.
