My eyes opened to the sunlight peering through the openings of the ceiling, warming up the room a bit. I didn't really feel the cold; it was like a blanket feeling. I yawned sitting up and looking over at...
Kyren!
He was still there, laying in the sunlight. He was grunting in his sleep, trembling slightly. Red marks had formed on his skin. Without his hoodie, he was almost completely exposed. I quickly got out of my hammock, pulling him out of the sun and to a shaded corner of the room. The red marks turned black and he stopped grunting, looking a little more at ease. I sighed in relief. I can't believe I forgot to wake him up! He could have gotten seriously hurt, and I...
Wait.
Why should I care?
He kidnapped me, not the other way around. He started to cough, his whole body shaking with the force of it.
"You asshole! You made me care about you!" I shouted. My face reddened with embarrassment.
"So you do care..." He muttered out. "I've got this horrible tendency to oversleep...I was trying to watch out for werewolves and vampires..." Kyren coughed again, this time trying to stand.
"Well...are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah...I'm not going to spontaneously combust because you left me out in the sun. It just makes me feel..unwell." He told me. "Can't believe you forgot to wake me up..."
"Sorry, I was trying to recover from you forcing your teeth into me." I muttered. He grinned, flashing his sharpened fangs at me.
"To be fair, I never said I didn't bite." Kyren said, winking at me. I narrowed my eyes at him and he laughed.
"Lighten up (Name)!" He told me. "Look, I'm doing something special today, so I'm glad you got me up right now. I want you to come along." I folded my arms. Why should I go with him? I should have just left him there in the sun, let him crisp up like bacon.
Well, I do like bacon.
"Kyren!" I shouted, punching him in the shoulder. I told that prick to stay out of my head!
"Sorry, sorry!" He said. "But seriously, I want you to come with me today to the Farmer's Market."
"Farmer's market?" I asked. "What for? Shouldn't you be getting back to sleep?" He shook his head, smiling.
"I have to make money somehow. Unfortunately, I can't do that selling fur hides from werewolves. I have a garden that I grow vegetables and other plants. It's something that keeps me busy, and I quite enjoy it as a hobby." He admitted. "At the very least, it gives you a healthy way to live here. Didn't you see it when your friend practically destroyed the yard at the other dorms?"
"It was dark and rainy..." I whined. He rolled his eyes, looking up at the sky from his spot in the darkness.
"I'll need to get my protective gear, and the truck." He said to himself. "I'm not sure I'll be able to make it before passing out." Kyren looked at the marks on his skin, rubbing them with his hand.
"You look like you have the plague." I teased. He laughed.
"Say what you will, but I'm just fortunate enough some of my ancestors survived it." Kyren said. "Do you mind giving me a hand?"
"Don't you have to worry about Castiel coming back, or other vampires or werewolves?" I asked. He scratched his head.
"I'm always worried about that, but I don't think they're reckless to do that out in broad daylight and in public." He said. "Come on, let's load up and go to market."
