"I've never really believed in fate. It's kind of scary, thinking that you're just wading in an ocean without control of where you're going." I told him. "I at least like to believe that this one life is mine to control." Katsu nodded solemnly.
"What an insightful opinion. Perhaps human creation wasn't a pure waste of effort after all." Katsu noted. "And so well said."
"Focus Hideki, on something other than controversial philosophy." Mika said. "Now then, I'm going out for...a drive."
"A drive?!" Quinn shouted. "No fair, no fair! How come she gets to leave the house?"
"She's broken out of prison almost a hundred times." Katsu said. "If she's arrested, she can at the very least handle herself. What would you possibly do, cupcake hand them to death? Besides, Mika is the only one who can investigate the...'anomaly'...that's going on. With an Oracle mother and a Demon King father, she's the only one who has the ability that allows her to jump back and forth between timelines so easily. But before you go off on another wild and senseless escapade, don't you have something to say to (Name) Mika?" She groaned and rolled her eyes, muttering her way back over to me and reaching into her pocket, pulling out my phone.
"W-What?! How did you...?!" I began, snatching my phone back. She laughed to herself.
"(Name), please, I'm a hired gun, I think I can do a little slight of hand." Mika said. "I put an app on there for you. Since things around here are starting to be busy and I'm probably going to be spending more time running with a purpose rather than for shits and giggles, I won't have the time to pop in on you every five minutes. There are a few things you can do on it: DM me, Katsu, or Eyo, request a portal, and travel back and forth between Hell and my office." I looked down at my phone, spotting the completely darkened app on my homescreen. It was labeled "???", but I'm sure my phone couldn't understand demon symbols. I guess it was like the Nav in Persona 5, right?
"Don't go spamming me, or I might now show up when something serious goes down." She said. "I usually have my phone on me at all times, so I'll show up guns blazing. Be ready for that."
"If I have to come in...well, be prepared for a giant dragon." Eyo said, petting the tiny beast. "This isn't his final form you know." It nuzzled his hand again, this time falling over and letting him scratch his belly. Mika smiled, shaking her head.
"He's like our mascot. Like Baby Groot." She explained. "Can't wait for the teenage years." Katsu rolled his eyes.
"We already have a surplus of teenage angst coming from you Mi-chan." He said. "With that being said, I think that's enough of a meeting for today." He pulled out his phone and headed for the kitchen, opening the fridge.
"Sweet." Mika said, pulling her keys from out of her pocket. "(Name), I'll check on your progress each night, don't worry. If need be, I'll come to you if anything comes up. Meanwhile, I'm going to go on a sweets run and meet up with my dealer. Anything I need to bring back?"
"A notebook for sheet music and a gram of kush. Plus more beef jerky for Inky." Eyo said. Mika's phone beeped and she pulled it out.
"A grocery list. I'm making sushi tonight." Katsu said. "Tell Oscar I said hello." She groaned again.
"Hideki, I don't feel like dealing with all the hipsters at Whole Foods and Harris Teeter just so I can get you your fresh produce. Why do we just grow our own?" She whined.
"Why don't you grow your own weed?" He countered, a sly smile on his face.
"Because that is an art that can only be mastered and perfected by the Kitsune clan." She said. "Alright losers, I'm out." She summoned a ball of ice in her hands, then threw it at the wall, forming a portal. She threw up a lazy peace sign and jumped through, the portal disappearing behind her.
"Come back again soon (Name)." Katsu said. "Perhaps the sushi will be ready upon your return." I opened my phone again, looking at the blacked out app. Swallowing, I closed my eyes and tapped on it, my body feeling lighter and lighter...
