"A-Actually, I was planning on spending it w-with..." I said, trailing off.
"The Former Demon Lord Arran?" Katsu said, a tea set floating in behind him and organizing itself on Mika's desk. "Yes, we figured." I paused for a moment. How come Mika wasn't literally throwing a chair right now? When we first met, she was throwing knives at Wade Arzan for taking her motorcycle.
"What's with that look (Name)?" Mika asked, looking at me as she shoved another potsticker into her mouth. "Did you find out what we do for a living? We kill people, if you forgot."
"I-uhh...no, actually. But...why aren't you pissed that I'm going out with Arran again?" I asked. She laughed, standing up from her chair and picking up a book from the shelf behind her. She opened it, revealing that the inside of the pages had been cut open to hide her secret stash of joints pre-rolled. She the proceeded to open a drawer in her desk and pull out a bag of brownies, no doubt pot brownies.
"(Name), I've had like twelve of these today. You could tell me who killed my mother and I wouldn't bat an eye." Mika said, opening the bag of brownies and eating one in one bite. I thought her eyes looked more bloodshot than usual.
"On top of that, she's already had about three Kamikazes...this is her method of calming herself down to the umpteenth degree." Katsu explained.
"That's a lot of booze and drugs..." I said, watching her sit down and kick back on her desk chair. "Is she going to be okay?" She started spinning around, singing some obscure 90s song. Katsu sighed, adjusting his glasses. Obviously, this wasn't the first time this had happened.
"Believe me, she can handle it." He said. "Mika will bounce back from it in an hour, craving cookie dough. I might end up spending Halloween making sure she stays out of trouble. You should be on your way."

I opened my eyes in the bedroom of the house Arran had claimed for us. As much as I wanted to escape from here, I don't think I would make it very far. If Mika could find me, so could Arran. I sat up, rubbing my eyes and looking out the window. It was funny how the world just passed by. It didn't matter if I had gone missing or not. It just...continued.
The door burst open, Arran coming in angrily. He was covered in what looked like blood, but somewhat darker.
"Who would have thought so much foolishness would be trapped in one mere mortal?" He growled, his darker voice in place of the lighter one I had become accustomed to. He threw his sweater on the ground along with his shirt. I clutched my knees tighter to my chest, hoping his anger would blow over.
"I gave him life, and he just refuses to listen! How dare he break orders!?"
...
Johnny...
The dark blood is demon's blood."A-Arran..." I stammered. He froze, looking at me and looking at himself. He exhaled loudly, combing his fingers through his hair as he sat on the edge of the bed. He buried his face in his bloodstained hands, his horns slowly appearing on top of his head.
"I...I didn't mean to frighten you. Johnny...Jace, rather...was a contractee of mine. I returned life to his body, and in exchange his soul was mine. He was to obey me." Arran said. "Forgive the mess...he just made me so very angry." A chill went up my spine. Abbadon, Johnny...who was next? Whoever didn't do whatever he wanted was snuffed out, like a cigarette under a shoe.
What made me the exception?
Or even Mika and Katsu?"Did you have another strange dream (Name)? It is Halloween, I'd expect it today." Arran asked, lifting his face from his hands. "Is Mika toying with you again?"
