[Tony's POV]

"Tony, what are you doing here??" she asked.

"I'm worried, Avie. I can't stop thinking about you. And... Macy told us what school you go to," I said.

"Dammit, Macy," she grunted.

"Avie, I just want to know if you're okay," I said. "And please be honest."

She was quiet for a while before she spoke.

"You know my story, Tony, so you should know if I'm okay or not," she said.

"Fair answer," I said. "But I swear, I really want to help you."

"Why?? You're THE Tony Perry. You're a celebrity, you can't be a superhero, you can't save me," she said.

"Yes, I can, but you have to let me," he said. "Avie, you're not like any of the other fans I've met. You're different. You've gone through so much more than they've gone through, yet here you are standing on you're own two feet still fighting to live," I said.

"Well, maybe I'm getting tired of fighting," she said. "Tony, I don't want you to get hurt. You shouldn't even be seeing me. I'm just a lost cause," she said.

"No you're not. Please, Avie, let me help you. I know you don't think anyone cares, but I do," I told her, carefully holding on to her shoulders.

"Please, Tony," she begged, tears streaming down her face. "I don't want you worrying about me, you'll just get hurt, please, please, just listen to me. Please."

I couldn't help but just hug her as she cried.

I sat down on the seat of the picnic table as I pulled her onto my lap and let her cry into my chest.

I then noticed her hand was wrapped up in gauze.

I carefully held it in my hand. "Avie, what happened??"

"Some bullies pushed me and made me jab my hand with an art tool, then punched my friend, Macy's brother," she cried.

Before I can say anything, a bell rang.

Avie shot up, nearly falling back before I caught her.

"I have to go," she said. She grabbed her backpack and was about to run when I grabbed her good hand.

"Why don't you leave all of this behind??" I asked.

She didn't face me.

"Avie, you have a chance to leave this painful world behind and find a better one. Why don't you want to leave it?? Why won't you let me help you??" I asked.

She sighed.

"Like I said. Nobody can save me even if they tried. I'm just hopeless and nobody should care. Others have it worse than me, I'm nothing special," she said, letting her hand slip from my grasp.

"I'm going to be here," I called out, making her stop.

"I'm gonna be here, I'll pick you up," I said.

She sighed. "Why??" she asked.

"I don't want you going home beat up just so you can get attacked again," I said, remembering she told me about her horrible fosters.

She looked hesitant, but then sighed. "Fine. I'll be at the front," she said.

"I promise, I'll be there," I assured.

She just nodded and ran off to class.

What is give to show this girl that she IS worth saving.
