[Avie's POV]

"Avie, why would you even ask that?!" Tony asked shocked.

"Because its true," I said.

"No its not," he said.

"Yes it is. First Blake, then my parents, then Rocky, then Randy, and now... face it, I'm some curse," I said.

Before I can think, Tony grabs my face and roughly kisses me on the lips.

I kiss him back before he pulls back, but kept his lips on mine.

"You are no curse. Don't ever think that, Avie," he said against my lips.

I gulped and hugged him tightly.

"Listen, I know you've lost so many, but it wasn't your fault. it was the fault of cruel people with no heart. Two things that make you different from that. You are kind, and loving, and a heart made out of pure gold."

I sniffle. "More like glass. It breaks too easily."

"Well," he said. "With me, you'll have an unbreakable diamond heart."

I smiled as we kissed one last time before a nurse walked in.

"Forgive me for interrupting you two, but the 15 minutes I gave you are up. I'm sorry," she said.

"Its alright," Tony said, then looked at me. "I'll come back, okay?"

I nodded as he pecked my lips and followed the nurse out before Frankie, my new nurse, walked in.

"You okay, Avie??" he asked, giving a small sympathetic smile.

I gave a small nod. Frankie's a nice guy, married and all, but I have some trust issues with male nurses.

"You know, I may not be Melinda, but I'm not that nurse that hurt you in your past. You can trust me," he said.

I gave a small smile and nodded.

"Oh, and your therapist wants to see you later this afternoon after lunch," he said.

"Okay," I said.

He nodded and left before Joselyn climbed meekly from her bed and sat next to me.

"I would listen to Tony, Avery. I can tell he loves you more than anything," she said.

I nodded and smiled. "I guess he does."

"I wish I had someone like that. You're very lucky, Avie," she said, smiling.

I smiled back. "Thank you, Joselyn."

[Tony's POV]

***flashback***

"I want to ask Avie to marry me," I said.

Vic looked at me surprised. "Wow... really??" he asked.

"Of course. I love her Vic, and I want her to feel safe and loved," I said.

Vic was quiet before he spoke.

"And, you want mine and Mike's blessings? Why??" he asked.

"Well, seems more appropriate, since you guys are, like, her brothers," I said.

"Then one sec," he said, and opened the door.

"Mike! Mind coming out here?!" Vic shouted.

Mike came seconds after Vic called him.

"Yeah?" he asked.

"Turtle here wants our blessings. He wants to put a ring on our sister's finger," Vic said.

"For real?? You ready to tie the knot?" he asked.

"With Avie, yeah," I said, rubbing the back of my neck.

"I'm all for it. You're a good friend and great guy for her, Tony. Mike??" Vic asked.

Mike shrugged. "Don't need my blessings, even if it is a gentleman thing to do. Go for it, dude. She needs someone like you," Mike said.

I smiled. He was right. I didn't need their blessings, but they're brothers for Avie. It just seemed like an appropriate thing to do.

"Thanks guys," I said.

"No problem. Now, how about we get so e dinner before Macy smacks Jaime with a wooden spoon for wanting an early bite," Mike said.

We laugh as we enter the house, seeing Jaime rubbing his head and Macy looking victorious as she gripped the chicken, Matt snickering by the counter.

***end of flashback***

I smiled, knowing I knew exactly how I was going to do it.

It'll take a lot of planning, but it's worth it.
