[Tony's POV]
"Well, Miss Winters, i have all the documetns saved here. However, all furniture was lost and the house was left to be sold since your fosters had us shread the contract, I saved the money for you," the lawyer, Raymond Cortez, said.
"How much did my parents leave behind??" Avie asked.
"Well, be prepared for the news, since... well... You're parents left behind $550,000," the lawyer said, reading a monitary contract that he saids Avie's mom signed before Blake even died, since it was for emergency funds for both Blake and Avie in case anything happened to Mr. and Mrs. Winters. Unfortunately, James and Diana found out and when they knew that Avie had inheritance, they took it for themselves. Lucky for her family, this lawyer was smart.
"My god! All that from a rainy day check?!" Avie said, surprised.
"You're parents wanted safety for you and your brother in case anything happened to them. When your brother was killed, they knew the grief was going to get them, so they came to me a week before the suicide. I didn't knw they'd do it. They told me to leave all the money for you," Raymond said.
"What about the rest?" she asked. "It was a total of a million."
"I was getting there. A day after Diana and James adopted you, they were told about it, how you had no access to it until the age of 18, according to law," he said. "That's when they took advantage. I was able to split the amount you would need for a future while they only took what they believed your parents left you, which was $450,000. I wish i was able to give you the rest. I'm sorry," he said, handing over a check.
"Its alright, Mr. Cortez. Thank you for staying true to my family," Avie said, taking the check.
"My pleasure, Avie. Now, I do apologize, but I have to be going. I wish you both a safe trip, and call me if you ever need anything. I am, after all, still your lawyer. So long as there is a Winters, i am there," he said.
"Thank you," i said as we shook hands with him and we then left so we can catch our flight.
Avie looked around her surroundings as i climbed in.
"Avie?" i called.
She shot back to reality and then climbed itno teh car.
"You alright??" i asked.
"ts just... to think... So much has happened to me in this little town... I might never be coming back here again. So much happiness that later turned to sadness and misery...." she said.
I gave a sad smile as i leaned over and kissed her cheek.
"Nobody ever said growing up is easy," i said.
"I know that," she said, then smiled up at me, kissing me softly.
"I love you," she said.
"I love you, too," i said. "Now, what should we do with this money??"
She looked down at the check. "I guess... I guess maybe use some of it for the wedding."
I looked at her. "Really??" I aked.
'Well, yeah. I mean, I didn't really want a grand wedding, just a court marrige, but... A wedding just woulds amazing," she said. "I'm sure my mom would love to see me getting married to the man I love, my dad already missing me, and my brother probably being Mr. Protective."
We laughed and smiled.
"Its your choice," i said, and started the car, driving off to the dealership to drop off the rental car and catch a cab to the airport.
