Not All Heroes Sing (Tony Perry Love Story)

*Chapter 25*

[Vic's POV]

"Wait, so you've dealt in Avie's case when her parents committed suicide??" Tony asked officer.

The policeman, Officer John Rhodes, nodded.

"She was in shock. Poor girl, I even answered distress calls from her, a few neighbors, and a Rebecca Hails, a friend I suppose. Also reported animal abuse in the house," he said.

"Becky, Daffodil's owner," Mike said, but as if to himself.

"Why didn't you arrest her fosters before??" Jaime asked.

"They hid everything from police, hid Avie and Rocky's bruises, Avie wouldn't speak up or allow me to help... I always thought she was just being stubborn, but I was wrong. She was afraid, yet she just didn't care what happened to her," he said. "Now that I saw what had happened I knew I had to stop them, but I guess Avie beat me to them. James Masons has a shattered shoulder and might not be able to walk again, but he deserves it. Avie shouldn't be in that place again," he said.

"How do we get her out of there??" Tony asked.

"What I'm about to tell you will get me in a lot of trouble, but this girl shouldn't be in pain," he said.

"Please, tell us," I asked.

"Alright, now, I can get a signed release form saying I need her for whatever listed reason, and they can let her go back home. One good reason: she is found innocent, which she is," he said.

The plan was brilliant!!

"How long until??" Tony asked.

"Tomorrow, before noon. You'll have my word on it. Meet me tomorrow at the hospital at 11:30 am," he said.

"Thank you, officer," I said as we got up and shook hands with him.

"No problem. And listen, its really great what your doing foe her. She really needs someone for her. Guys like you, I know can be her heroes," he said.

"Thanks," Jaime said.

"No problem," he said, then left.

"Okay, were at ease. Lets get some sleep," I said.

We all got the puppies settled nice and warm and then we all went to sleep, hoping Avie is okay.

[Avie's POV]

I woke up in a padded room, but...

Something wasn't right...

I felt so numb... I couldn't feel any emotion, yet... I still feel alive...

What did they give me??

I felt like the living dead...

I felt afraid, but... Why can't I show it??
