[Tony's POV]

We walked into the building but were surprised to find that a dark tension hung in the air.

"Umm, hey, I'm here to visit Avery Winters," I said to the clerk lady. She looked sad.

"Hi, umm, I'm sorry, but Avery isn't decent for visitors at the moment," she said.

"What, why? What happened??" Mike asked.

"Unfortunately, her nurse, Melinda, passed away yesterday in front of Avie and Joselyn. They're both in quite a shock.

I froze. Melinda's dead?!

"Oh shit," Jaime said.

"Please, Miss, you have to let me see her, at least me," I said. "She needs someone right now."

She hesitated,but then sighs.

"Well, she has been muttering for a 'Tony,' which I'm guessing is you. Follow me then," she said. "But you can't stay for long."

I nodded and went ahead, following her down the hall.

"Does she have a new nurse?" I asked.

"Yes. I can assure you that Frankie is a good trustworthy nurse and was a good friend of Melinda," she said as we arrive to the room.

She tells me to enter quietly, and I do so.

I walk in, finding Joselyn on her bed, sitting and hugging her legs. Her eyes are red, as if she were crying.

"Where's Avie?" I asked.

She pointed to the other bed, where I see a small little figure curled by the sheets into a little cocoon.

I gulped and carefully sat by the edge.

"Avie??" I whispered.

The little mount moved and out poked Avie's head from underneath.

Her eyes were full of sadness, tears staining her cheeks and her eyes red and puffy from crying.

I felt my heart break just seeing how sad she was.

"Oh, Avie," I said, reaching out for her.

She just let out a sob before hugging me tightly and crying into my chest.

"She's gone," she cried.

"I know, babe. Its okay. It'll be okay," I said as I rubbed her back.

I knew something like this was bound to happen. Melinda was very old already.

I stayed with Avie until she calmed down.

The nurse bought her some water as Avie calmly explained what happened.

"I'm sorry you went through that," I said.

She left out a sigh. "I knew she was getting sick and old, and her time was running out, but... it was so sudden at that moment," she said. "It would have been better if she passed away in her sleep. My mom always told me its the best way to go."

"At least now she's not suffering and she can finally rest," I said.

She sniffles and nodded. "Yeah, I know...." she said, looking upset.

"What's wrong??" I asked.

Then she asked the worst question she could ever ask.

"Why does everyone around me have to die??"
