"Damon, get up. What the hell do you think you're doing ," a voice yells waking me up. I open my eyes and see that Alaric is standing there with his hands on his hips.
"You're definetely a morning person," Damon says smiling as his eyes are closed. He looked absolutely furious. "I wasn't sleeping well the past two weeks, since it happened. Damon and I had a talk about the people we have lost and I told him. He just wanted to help me get some rest. Having someone lay down beside me made me feel safe," I say saving Damon's ass.
"She barely accepted my apology, how could I get in her pants," Damon jokes. I chuckle and shake my head. Men. Alaric obviously didn't find it funny at all, "Damon, I really don't want to see you right now. Please leave," Alaric says pointing at the door. Damon puts his hands up and leaves the room.
"And you, I don't want any boys in your room. You can stay in the living room, but only while I'm awake," Alaric says walking out of the door.
I smile, he's being a father. A very protective one at that. My father was never like that. It's only in the movies where the father is protective and the daughter just yells at him for "ruining their lives" but honestly, it shows me that Alaric cares about me enough to make sure nothing happens to me.
I leave my room and go into the living room. Alaric was sitting there with a serious expression as he watched some football game. I walk over to him and hug him, "Thank you for caring about me."
He hugs me back, "Of course I care about you. I wish you would have told me that you weren't sleeping well, you could have come and slept with me anytime," he says. I untangle my arms from his neck and nod, "Yeah I should have. I don't know why I didn't. I guess I didn't want you to think of me as a child," I say looking down.
"You definitely aren't a child. You've gone through a lot of pain, pain makes you grow up," he says looking at me. I smile weakly.
I feel like I have a complete family. I haven't felt like that in a very long time. There are people here that actually care about my well being. A family doesn't have to be your mother and your father, family is people who care about you.
