Most people love Christmas, a time to decorate the house and be jolly. This year, I am not jolly or in the mood to even look at a snowman or Santa Claus. Sitting in the airport looking outside at the bare ground on the plane runway. Texas was now my home and I was going to miss it while I had to go back to the snow filled hell hole known as Maine.
"Hun, its for less than a week." my mom said to me.
"Yes, but my iPhone gets no recepition, they dont have internet, and I basically hate everyone in the town." I told her.
"Sam, I have been very nice to you throughout the move. The only reason we're even going back is because you were homesick. Now cut the shit and be happy." my mom said in a serious tone. She had never talked to me like this other than the time when I almost ran away to Kristy's house in third grade.
"Fine." I said getting up and moving away from her. We got on the plane and the dumb flight attendents showed us how to buckle up and all that jazz. We took off with no problem and got to Maine faster than expected. So now we had to wait in the freezing cold airport looking a fifth grader art. When my grandparent arrived they were thrilled to see us. We all squezzed inside of the SUV and began the two hour trip. Grandma put on cheesy holiday music which my mom annoyingly sang along to. Only eight more days, only eight more days.

Christmas was huge. We at least had twenty gifts each. I knew dad was making more and mom was making a little extra but not this much. We must be rich. I mostly got money so I could get what I wanted but I got some real gifts. An iPhone cover, a few things of makeup, and I was told the iPhone was for christmas. My little brother and sister both recieved toys and gift cards. Now I just had to get through the rest of the week without encountering my ex and old bestfriend. Which, wasn't going to happen.
"Everyone clean up!" grandma yelled after we finished opening presents.
"Why?" Colt whinned.
"Because I have a surprise for you guys later! And, we are not looking like pigs!" she said. Oh great, grandma planned a party. I was going to be alone at a party.
-----------------------------------
This was a disaster. Grandma invited Kristy and Taylor. As soon as they arrived I ran away into a corner as fast as I could but they had spotted me.
"Sam? Is that you?" Kristy yelled.
"Yeah, uh, hi." I said awkwardly.
"How's it going?" she asked me as she gave me a hug.
"I'm great, and you?" I said hugging back half-heartedly.
"I've been better." she replied.
"Oh, sorry bout that." I said.
"Sam, you look so different. Tan, more makeup, and oh my god, are those real Uggs?" she asked. I was offended by the tone of his voice.
"Yeah, well the weathers alot nicer in Texas so when you're outside you get pretty ten, and yes, reall Uggs."
"You've changed so much." she said.
"No, I have just adapted to my new life." I said as Taylor came over seeing the tension between us.
"Hey Sam." he said.
"Hi." I said. Before he could respond my phone started to ring. I only had one bar and was surprised the call even came through. It was Alex. I could tell because of the ringtone. 'Up' by Justin Bieber. It was his favorite song. I excused myself from the conversation and took the call.
"Alex!" I almost screamed.
"Sam! Merry Christmas!" he said.
"Merry Christmas to you too!" I responded.
"I miss you." he told me.
"I miss you more. Plus you just saved my ass." I said.
"How?" he asked.
"Taylor and Kristy were just talking to me and it wa-. Oh shit, I have to go. My mom sees me. I'll call you tomorrow." I said quickly.
"Okay, I love you." Alex said.
"I love you too." I said as I hung up the cell phone and approached Kristy and Taylor.
"Sorry about that. Alex just called to make sure I got in safely. He couldnt get through." I explained.
"Oh, yeah. Who's Alex?" Kristy bugged.
"Alex is my boyfriend." I said showing her a picture of us together.
"You two are cute." she said, I could tell she was lying.
"Kristy, can I talk to Sam.. alone?" Taylor said suddenly.
"Okay." she said as she went to the kitchen.
"Sam, you look, great." he said looking at me all over.
"Uh, did you not hear I have a boyfriend?" I said.
"I heard. But we have something special."
"We HAD something, but it was not special." I said as I walked away. I went over to my mom and told her I wasnt feeling good and I was going go try and rest. She said that was okay and the issue was left at that.
-----------------------------------
The week flew by. I didnt see Kristy or Taylor at all which made the experience of being in Maine a whole lot more enjoyable. As we got in line for the security check I found myself crying. I was going to miss them so much. I told them to visit as soon as they had enough money to buy tickets. We boarded the plane and went home. We arrived in Texas at twelve. I figured since I was a little jet lag I would take a quick snooze before going to the somewhat party at Austins. It felt nice to be in my own bed at my house in the warm weather. I dozed off as fast as I woke up. My phone was ringing. Austin.
"Hello?" I answered in a tired tone.
"Where are you? It's almost three!" He said.
"Sorry I decided to take a quick nap which well wasnt very quick. I'll be over in ten." I said as I hung up. I put on a pair of grey sweatpants, a red American Eagle long sleeve top, and my Uggs and ran out the door. I then ran back inside forgetting about my hair and makeup. I applied a light coat of mascara and put my hair in a side pony. I said goodbye to my parents then went over to Austins. We were all staying at Austins that night and I figured I'd might as well just wear my pjs over.
"Sam!" Alex yelled as I walked up the path. He picked me up in a hug and gave me a kiss on the lips right in front of everyone. He looked so happy to see me and the feeling was mutual.
