Raven’s P.O.V.
When we went inside the living room, Shane called out to all our brothers to come in here and they did. One by one they came and the last one to arrive was Duke. After Duke arrived Shane says, “Dad called me and he says that he’s coming home in four days.” Everybody was cheering, including me, because I was hoping that dad would stay home longer. The days went by pretty fast and I was happy; it seemed as though time was on my side. It was only one day left before dad returned and I could hardly wait. It was midnight and dad was going to be coming home tomorrow.
I woke up the next day very early hoping that I would be able to see dad before everybody else. I did my usual things and then I went downstairs quietly not wanting to wake up my brothers. I sat on the couch for two hours and then I heard somebody pull into the driveway. I got up and walked over to the door and I opened it up and there was my dad. He puts his suitcase down and he pulls me into a tight hug and he says, “I missed you.” I repeated it back to him and he says, “Are your brothers still sleeping?” I nod my head and say, “I think so.”
I let dad inside and as soon as he did, all of my brothers came running down the stairs and my dad hugged them all one at a time. I closed the door and dad says, “I’m glad to see that the house is still standing.” We all laugh nervously and dad says, “Did you all have fun without me?” My brothers and I shake our heads and Hunter says, “It’s boring without you here dad.” The rest of my brothers and I agreed with Hunter and dad says, “I’m lucky to have kids like you.” I grin at that comment; it was great to know that dad loved us and wouldn’t trade us for anything. I was so lost in thought that I didn’t hear my brothers and dad talking to me. Shane walks over to me and he shakes me until I’m not lost in thought anymore and I say, “Stop shaking me.”
Shane stops after I told him too and he says, “You zoned out on us Raven.” I sigh out loud, I can’t believe I do that and say, “Sorry I was thinking.” Everybody shakes their heads and dad says, “Why is it that Raven is the only one dressed for the day, and the rest of you are in pajamas?” All of my brothers look down at themselves and Shane says, “We just woke up dad.” Then after he says that, they all head upstairs to get dressed for the day. Dad grabs his suitcase and he begins to head upstairs when I say, “Jace told me that he wants to talk to you about something.”
Dad sighs and says, “Alright tell him that we can talk tomorrow, right now I’m tired.” I tell him that I will tell Jace that and then dad says, “Alright, well I’m going to rest for a bit but when I wake up were all going out for some fun.” I smile at that word, ‘fun’, usually what dad meant by that is that he’s going to give us a shopping spree and were allowed to buy whatever we went so I say, “Can’t wait.” Dad heads upstairs to his room and then I head outside to get some air. I went back inside and lay down on the couch. I closed my eyes and fell asleep and two hours later, I felt somebody shaking me. I woke up to face Shane and he says, “Can I sit here?”
I sat up and Shane sits beside me and I say, “I’m going to lay my head on your shoulder, kay?” Shane nods his head so I lay my head on his shoulder and then I hand the remote over to Shane. He looks at me with a questioning look and I say, “You let me use your shoulder, I’m giving you the remote.” Shane kisses the top of my head and he says, “Thanks Raven.” I close my eyes and I fell asleep again which I was glad because I didn’t want to know what Shane was going to watch. I again felt somebody shake me and I saw that it was Shane and he says, “Dad is up and were leaving soon, so get ready.” I nod my head and get up slowly off the couch and I head upstairs to get my wallet and shoes since I already had my phone with me.
