Maya didn't know how long it took for this curse to wear off ever since she sacrificed the thing she loved the most; Lucas. All she knew was that every time she tried saying the word love, her heart would ache massively due to the price of her heart freezing if she ever finished that word. It had grown worse ever since she was 16. Not only could she not say love to Lucas, she couldn't say love to anyone now. Maya can barely even use it in a general sentence.
It had been a week since Maya shut down Lucas. It wasn't only killing him, but killing her.
Lucas sat in his chambers, locked away in pure darkness. He only looked up to hear the sound of knocking. Secretly he hoped every time that Maya would return, that she'd explain to him why she did what she did. Another part of him told himself to shut up, and that it was never going to happen. Lucas had to move on-and plus, it was only one dance they shared, he would think. But a five year history of development would probably do a number on someone as well. He sunk into his bed and deeply sighed. Lucas's father came in when his son didn't say enter like he usually did. "Lucas, are you alright?"
His depressed eyes met his father's. "My true love that mom wanted me to meet? Maya? We're over."
Lucas' father's eyes widened. "What? That's preposterous. You guys were meant to be together. How big was the price?"
"She couldn't say the word love or kiss anyone. There's a curse upon her, father. Her heart would freeze in a second. But for some reason, she told me she lied to me. And that there was never a curse." He paused, feeling sorrow fill his heart. "She told me she never felt strongly about me."
His father placed a hand on top of Lucas. "My son. And what do you think you are to do about this?"
Lucas lifted his eyes to his father's. "I do not know. I wish I did."
"Lucas, you are to get out of bed and go talk to her. You can't give up now."

Maya came across Missy Bradford one day, and a bad feeling swirled around her stomach. Wherever that girl went, trouble followed. Her eyes met Maya's as she approached the girl. Missy's family was made up of magic, even though in the era was ending. But Maya swore that their family was so powerful, they could seek immortality. She prayed they never would. The thing about Missy, was that she could read anything about a person in a matter of a second; some witty little magic she must've picked up as a young girl. Little did Maya know, that begins that prophecy, Maya and Missy were never to meet. Because if they did, they'd conjoin their powers so strongly, that the world was to be in complete chaos.
"Maya Hart. Daughter of the Goddess, the one with the magic everyone wants. Can't say the words," she mouthed "I love you" in absolute silence. "Can't kiss, or else it would leave to such an unfortunate fatality. Aww. Poor Maya Hart."
"You know Missy, I'm sure no one ever gets tired of hearing about that little brain of yours." Maya shot back, resting her hands on her hips. Missy giggled, shrugging her shoulders innocently. She barely knew the girl, and somehow felt the need to get a Missy repellant to keep her out of her sights.
"I could always help you."
"And why should I trust anything you tell me?"
"Because you need me. I'm simply steaming with magic, Maya." Missy presented herself in a cocky way, a mischievous smile remaining on her face. "And anyway, I heard about the sacrifice you made. Clearly didn't do anything." She pouted her lips sarcastically which caused Maya's blood to boil.
"You're wasting my time. Goodbye now." Maya began to turn around when she felt a hand on her wrist.
"What if I told you I had a potion that could take that curse off of you?"
"And how do you have those potions just lying around, Bradford?"
She smiled, letting it poof into her palm. Maya observed the small bottle before her.
"I just do, my darling. Drink it, and I promise you nothing but pure cure."
Maya glanced at the sly girl and at the drink in her hand. Could she?

Lucas hopped onto his horse, heading over to Maya's house. He was not going to let her go this soon. But little did he know what Maya was about to do. She certainty was not home, for starters.
He hopped off the saddle, and urgently knocked on her palace door. Katie opened the door and greeted him politely. "Lucas. What can I do for you?"
"Is your daughter home? I would like a word with her."
"Um, no she is not. Not at the moment. Would you like me to locate her?"
Lucas turned his head, not seeing the girl in sight. "Can you?"
Katie smiled as a floating crystal ball appeared in her hand. The fog within the ball faded as they both watched Maya with some girl. Her mother's eyes bulged out of her head, and Lucas knew right then and there that this girl was bad. "Katie, who is that?"
"Missy Bradford. She's evil, and she's known to break every promise she had proposed." Katie bit her lip hard in nervousness. They both watched as Missy handed Maya a bottle. The girl looked down hesitantly as she untwisted the bottle.
"What is that?"
Katie stared back up at him. "I don't know. We have to go there. Now."
Lucas whistled, and his horse immediately ran to the door as both Lucas and Katie hopped on, running to the lake they were near.

Maya downed the potion she was given carefully as a smirk appeared on Missy's face. It was something that Maya seriously shouldn't have done. Something that would change her for the worse.
As soon as the potion finished down her throat, Maya dropped the bottle, coughs flying up her throat. She lets out a scream as she holds her throat. It wasn't killing her.. It was changing her.
After a few more heavy breaths and flinches, Maya stood up again, her eyes turning from blue to a dark purple. She was magical.. But she was over the top. Which meant that the power reached to her head and that she was simply invincible.
"It's about time. God, I felt like such an amateur." Maya rolled her eyes, picking up a rock and burning it with an appearing flame.
"Looks like I have a new best friend."
Their conversation was soon interrupted by a sound of a horse stopping on the ground. Lucas and Katie jumped down and stared at Maya.
"Well, hello mother." Maya smiled. "Friar."
Friar?
"Maya.. Are you alright?"
"Perfectly amazing!" She giggled as Lucas looked at the empty potion glass anymore. "Anyway, Lucas, back to that sad conversation we were having, I don't feel that way about you."
"Feel what way?" He shot back. Maya stayed silent, with a smirk on her face. Deep down inside, she knew she couldn't even say the words. "Ah. Then you were lying to me when you were saying that you hadn't felt that way."
"I wasn't."
"Then say it."
Maya ran over, staring at him with murderous eyes as fire appeared in one of her hands. "Don't test me."
"You wouldn't do it."
Maya smiled, and blew the fire off, suddenly burning a spot on Lucas's arm. He yelped and held it with his other hand. "Maya. What the hell happened to you?"
"I don't need you in my way. I never needed a man to help me." The sky darkened suddenly, probably the work of both Maya and Missy. "Say goodbye, bitches." Missy laughed.
Part of the ground cracked from behind Lucas. Katie gasped, backing up from the crack as Lucas struggled to get his balance back again. Maya walked up to him, holding her purple dress so it wouldn't drag under her. She held her hand out as the girl pulled on his collar so the boy was closer to her. "You were fun while it lasted." She shrugged, smiling innocently.
Suddenly, time stopped. The hands on the clock froze.
Everywhere around the world paused.
And a girl appeared behind Lucas. She walked over to Maya, who was not frozen. "What are you doing?" But for some reason, Maya had an urge to just be nice to her, not to want to light her hair on fire.
She sighed. "Maya, you walked into a trap. I want to stop it. You don't deserve what your getting. Lucas's mother agrees with me. Which is why I'm giving you the power to fix what you had done wrong."
Maya's heart pounded in her chest. "How did you know about Lucas's mother?"
"I'm the guardian of where we all go eventually." She smiled, clasping her hands together as Maya looked down at the girl's white dress. She was radiant. "Riley Matthews." Riley held out her hand, shaking it. "Make it right. Don't let him fall, don't throw away what you feel the most for. You may be under a spell right now, but just be warned. Make him say the words." Riley finished, fading out as her hand faded out of Maya's.
The world unpaused as chaotic continued. Maya was still gripping Lucas's shirt, a panicked look on the face. Her expression softened as she pulled him away from the edge. Tears rolled down her cheeks, even though she didn't remember crying.
"Lucas.." Maya sniffed, wiping tears away. "Tell me how you feel about me. Just say it. I'm trying, I'm trying to think clearly," Her eyes changed from blue to purple, Maya's body fighting the magic within her. She felt the world crumbling before her. Even though she had just known Missy for one hour, she was all of a sudden creating world domination-just like the prophecy had predicted. It was as if the world was put on fast forward for just the moment they were at. "I don't care what happens to me." She caressed the side of his face. "I just want to hear it from you."
He breathed, and looked into her eyes.
"I love you."
Maya sucked in a breath as she touched her heart, feeling pain rise as cold filled into her chest. But she wasn't going to die that way. Not yet. Not for the last seconds they were standing there together, as the earth spun from years, to months, to days, to seconds. Her blonde hair was waving every which way the wind pulled it as her face turned a snowy white. "I-I love you too." She choked out as Lucas held onto her hands, bringing her closer to him.
"I can't lose you. Not like this. Not now."
Tears filled her eyes as she managed to smile. "You were the dream I've always wanted." He kissed her freezing hands as she leaned in, kissing his lips as the wind spun faster around them. "I love you, I love you, I love you." She mumbled against his lips. Her heart grew colder and her body felt like pure ice. The universe was ending as they knew it, but they needed a few seconds in each other's arms. When Maya touched her cold lips to his, it created electricity within him, pulling her closer, as he caressed her back in want, in need.
When her body weakened from her curse, she leaned away, gasping as Lucas gently set her to the ground, closing her eyes with his hands. And with that, Maya breathed her last icy breath.
~~~~
Maya opened her eyes, and she wasn't seeing the world ending around her. She looked around and saw Riley next to her. "Guess it's my time?"
Riley wasn't answering, though. She had this smile on her lips, as if telling her that there was more to this. She waved her hands high in the air as Maya watched.
~~~~~
Katie broke down when she saw her daughter after the storm stopped.
Missy was on the floor, too weak to be able to handle that power on her own.
Her mother let out a scream.
Lilian appeared with tears in her eyes and disastrous hair. Katie didn't say a word as she walked over, bending down and caressing the side of her face. "You didn't know this. But I loved you your whole life." A few tears rolled down her face.
"I regretted that moment I cursed you."
Lucas bowed his head down, tears trailing down his cheeks. She was gone. She was gone forever.

All three walked back in the dark, Lucas carrying Maya with a darkened expression on his face. The sunset to early morning rose behind them, the world recovering for the advantage that almost was take from it. He glanced down at her, moving a loose curl out of her face. Maya was legendary, and adventurous. Something that no other woman could ever replace.
"I won't forget you. I won't forget this. I love you."
He leaned down, and his lips met hers. Suddenly, a rush was felt in his stomach again, the kind that he got when he knew she was feeling it too. The spark that they created from sixteen years young to now. Her lips began to feel warm against his. Shocked, he pulled away as her eyelids unexpectedly opened, purple to a clear blue. It was a moment of shock, but the world wasn't paused. Air rushed to her lungs as if breathing out from a very long kiss.
"Lucas, I.. love you too." She whispered, regaining her consciousness. Katie gasped as he set Maya down to stand. They all hugged her tight, crushing her practically. Lilian stayed back, a guilt-ridden expression on her face.
"How did you?-Why-"
"Someone told me that the fact that I gave up everything for you, Lucas, was a sacrifice- which I found out was a thing that generally women never do. Someone told me that my sacrifice shouldn't have led to fatality. I was very lucky to have found you. I am lucky to know you." She closed the gap, wrapping her arms around him. After putting space between them, knowing her mother and grandmother were still there, Maya noticed Lilian's hesitation. The girl held Lucas's hand before letting it go to talk to her grandma.
"Lilian?"
"Maya. As much as I'd hug you, I don't even deserve to. You'd never want to."
"It'll take time." Maya nodded in a sad tone. "But right now, hug me."
Lilian leaned over and hugged Maya, feeling her heart fulfilling for a love of the child she never had. Maya smiled as she pulled away, hugging Katie, and then going back to Lucas.
Lucas caressed her hair back. "Maya, before you ended things, I was meaning to ask you."
Maya's blue eyes glowed as they remained on him. "Marry me?" He held out a ring.
"I do." Her eyes flickered back to his, hugging him tightly, trying not to crush his bones. "Have I said I love you?"
"And have I said that I love you too?"
"ENOUGH ALREADY!" They heard from in the background as they remained in each other's arms.

"I do." They both said in unison before exchanging a kiss. Lucas pulled the woman closer, admiring the white dress she wore, which dragged on the floor in style. There was a white rose crown that wrapped on the top of her head, through and around her blonde curls.
They began to walk back down the aisle as the crowd followed them, and just as Lucas was about to walk out of the door, there stood no other than his mother, smiling with proud. She blew a kiss to him, and disappeared. Maya glanced at him in confusion.
He looked at her back in assurance. "You ready to start this life together?"
She took his hand. "Forever."
"I heart you."
